Bottom post of the previous page:

If you remember, when JV drove for Penske in NASCAR Nationwide, that team was more often than not the car to beat, but JV got screwed over more than once, especially in Montreal. Running out of fuel on a GWC while leading is one example. Brake fade and Marcos Ambrose the year before. Battery failure another time at Elkhart Lake is another.
I worked side by side with him when he ran the infineon race with Phoenix Racing. Had horrible luck, but he is a GENIUS. He is super aggressive, but he was the reason the 22 car in the nationwide series was so dominant at the road courses. Roger himself called him that weekend and thanked him for everything. I had the same feelings about him as you all did, but he such a great guy.
I wouldn't call JV humble, or even thoughtful, but I hope he can do well.

Another surprise entrant for Indy 500: Kurt Busch will drive one of Michael Andretti's cars. Pretty cool to see people do things like this in this day and age.

Full story at National Speedsport News

And he'll be attempting to do both that and the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Charlotte on the same day. He'd be the fourth driver to do the double after John Andretti, Tony Stewart and Robby Gordon.

St Pete this weekend. Monty's first race in a single seater since Kimi brake tested him into turn 2 at Indy in 2006 (yes I know that's not what happened).

I was hoping to go as my company has hired a yacht, but I've decided to abandon that and focus on getting a suite at the Indy GP on May 10th.

Sensational race in Long Beach yesterday. First of all, the racing was far better than anticipated. Secondly, it was the underdog teams of Sarah Fisher-Hartmann and Ed Carpenter that made the headlines. Josef Newgarden had the drive of his life going on for SFH until he was taken out by Ryan Hunter-Reay, a crash that caused total havoc. The top 3, Newgarden, RHR, Hinchcliffe were all taken out, along with Kanaan, Sato and Jake Hawksworth. After that, Mike Conway for Ed Carpenter beat Will Power on a restart and could prevail when the cars in front of him had to pit or crashed out. Great race overall.

You have to feel sorry for the likes of Newgarden. At the same time an apology is no replacement for idiocy amongst some of the more experienced drivers, particularly Ryan Hunter-Reay for this chaos in the clip and Power for his faux-pas.

FWIW I must have been watching the WTCC in Morroco (or was it Moto GP) :dunno: when these "sensational bits" happened. Or dozing off. It didnt keep me either awake or watching (though I did return to it after WTCC was over.)

I didn't think it was a bad race, but I certainly did not see anything sensational about it.

I missed the race but have caught up with the RHR and Dixon incidents. But what did Power do?

Gave Pagenaud a bump-n-run. Pagenaud was not pleased.

Dixon also gave Justin Wilson a dirty move.

An entertaining round. Good racing up to Wilson's unceremonious departure. Seven cars in a string at the time.

Pitifully bad luck for some in the lead serial as RHR gaffed badly and caused a monumental wreck. Teamie to RHR and running P3 at the time, James Hinchcliffe, made some diplomatic statements later but clearly, he was calling a spade...a spade.

Thanks. What was Power's response to Pagenaud's complaint?

I've just seen the Newgarden / RHR / Hinch post incident interviews and I'm amazed at RHR's attitude where he basically says "I'm taking the blame but Newgarden should have been more co-operative". RHR again proving why I dislike him greatly.

Michael Andretti's post incident interview was probably the best and most telling as to who was at fault.

Taking full responsibility. I didn't see the interview, but I believe the words where "I cocked up".
