June 3: Detroit (street circuit)
June 9: Texas Motor Speedway (oval)

That schedule is not final.

Cleveland?
Milwaukee?
New Hampshire?
Laguna Seca?
Road America?

They need to dump this shit and bring back proper tracks...

St Pete
Edmonton
Infineon (not a shit track, but not suitable for Indycars)
Barber (see Infineon)
Baltimore

And don't get me started on the idea behind going to China... Indycar is heading in the same direction as ChampCar. They'll be going to Belgium and Holland next.

I think Baltimore was good, the track may not have been awesome but it was a proper event with good attendance and that's exactly what Indycar needs right now. It's also something that neither Milwaukee nor New Hampshire could pull off this year.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind at all to see those two ovals in the calendar.

and the Baltimore promoters owes $12Million.

Indycar's problem is they ask too much in sanctioning fees from the tracks, that's why they goto street courses because the local authority / promoter pays the fee, not the track owner.

Is the Detroit track a new one or are they going back to Belle Isle?

Belle Isle. I think it's great street circuit.

More information...
IndyCar drops Kentucky Motor Speedway as 2012 calendar is published
Thursday, December 22nd 2011, 14:08 GMT

Kentucky Motor Speedway has been dropped from the IndyCar calendar for the 2012 season.

Series organisers published a 15-round calendar for the 2012 season on Thursday, with the Kentucky circuit plus the New Hampshire oval omitted from the schedule.

Also among the 2011 events missing from next year's calendar are the Las Vegas oval and the Motegi road course. It had been announced earlier in the year that neither circuit would be making a return in 2012.

As previously announced, the Belle Isle circuit in Detroit that hosted IndyCar in 2007-08 and Champ Car during the 1990s, makes a return to the series, while a street race at Quindao in China gets an August 19 date.

IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard said that although the initial calendar drops the number of rounds from 17 in 2011 to 15 next year, there was a chance that further races will be added before the start of the 2012 season.

"INDYCAR is excited about the confirmed races announced today," said Bernard. "With the new car and engine manufacturer competition, we believe they will be tremendous events that will help INDYCAR grow.

"We are exploring adding additional events to the 2012 schedule. We're in the process of confirming a 16th event, while also considering adding a 17th race to the calendar."

IndyCar's blue riband event, the Indianapolis 500, takes place on May 27, with Pole Day a week earlier on May 19.

I've never been a fan of the Belle Isle circuit, I much preferred the old Detroit street track. Is Texas being run as two twin races again in 2012?

erm, Yes K, Texas is a double header again, only this time it counts as full points for each race (it was half points per race this year right?).

xavier28, yes, Circuit of The Americas is still being built, but when it'll be finished is another matter, I personally wouldn't want any more roadies though than there already is, they can take some of the crap ones off and goto places like Road America and Mosport first, Indycar should be 50/50 road/ovals, not 80/20.

I read that Texas wouldn't be a double header, and xavier, get your head back on straight. This Texas we are referring to is the Texas Motor Speedway, not the F1 track...

Ah!

They need 16 to fulfil the contract with Izod, so it could end up being a double header.
