The cheers were big for Binder who stayed out when all others ahead came in and got the win for his braveness. Hats off to him.

Incredible MotoGP race. Million-dollar decision by Binder to stay out and then proceed to hang on. And he really was hanging on.

Looking at replays it looks like Binder ran so wide when the others came in he couldnt get in to pitlane and had to stay out!.Lol

Binder penalised for last lap track limits violation.

Wow Binder had luck on his side after the race, although a bit of common sense may be applied.
On his wet final tour he went off track at a point where track limits were being monitored. He got hit for it and given a post race 3 second time penalty but kept the win because his lead was over 3 seconds.

Just a thought but maybe the 3 second penalty was applied as a substitute for the difference of a long lap penalty I imagine he would have been given for the violation, given he was unable to do that being the last lap . :dunno:

Regardless it was fortunate he had the time up his sleeve. It would have been criminal had he lost the win for not being able to stay on track on that final tour given the conditions were more the problem than it being excess speed..

Irrelevant. Conditions have no matter - you play the cards you're dealt, and have to stay between the white lines. He was going to fast.

More reason for these stupid white lines and asphalt runoffs to be replaced with actual boundaries such as kerbs and gravel traps/grass. Then he would've gone off and maybe been out of the race then and there instead of these bullshit retroactive penalties.

Aprilia has announced it has signed Maverick Vinales for 2022

Well, it was rumoured before all the bikewrecker stuff with Yamaha came up, but despite denying it all when the rumour started at Assen, Aprilia have today jumped in confirming his gig for next year.
We still dont have anything official as to whether he is out with immediate effect from Yamaha or whether his suspension is temporary. Personally I would kick his arse out immediately, but I saw something of a grovelling public apology from him for his actions, so who knows whether he will be on the bike for Silverstone or not.

Re Aprilia he joins on a one-year deal with an option to renew, replacing rookie Lorenzo Savadori (currently recovering from his broken ankle Styrian GP horror smash).

What happens at Yamaha is a bit up in the air (the works team less so) but I think Franco Morbidelli is set to step up from SRT to take Vinales’ place. Rossi of course has to be replaced as well, so who knows what will happen at SRT..... Various (Moto3) rookies names been bandied around. Given their loss of Petronas backing SRT maybe looking for some inexpensive talent they can grow rather than pay for a bigger name. ( Jake Dixon, Darren Binderm and Xavi Vierge have all been linked... Binder has a WSBK test lined up at Brno this week, and seems currently as the likely favourite for one of the SRT bikes)

I think Miller was the last of the current riders to skip Moto2 and jump on a MotoGP straight from Moto3.

Darryn Binder in MotoGP? Like that makes no sense whatsoever. What has he done in Moto3 to warrant this opportunity? Even if nobody saw Pedro Acosta's rise coming, Sergio Garcia manages to look competitive. Jaume Masia is having a bad year and Binder somehow is even worse when he should be a genuine title contender (as for someone who had 100+ starts in Moto3).
