Vassago wrote: 3 years ago Mir still finished 4th on a Ducati-favorable track after being nowhere all weekend. That's called a championship performance.

Meanwhile self-proclaimed title favorite Miller gets 9th. Yeah, good luck with that title run, Jack!

Old man Rossi went backwards fast, Morbidelli was a total non-factor for whatever reason?
Morbidelli had technical issues. Rossi...bwah...there’s been a debate between him and Lucchinelli. The latter wrote that Rossi should have given a call years ago and Rossi responded that lucky was formerly licking his ass and will jump on the winners chariot when Rossi will perform.

Rossi only ahead of Savadori in Q1. He'll end up worse than Dani Pedrosa's final season. And I'm unsure Rossi will actually hang 'em up after 2021 :rockedover:

Morbido put a bit of pressure on the team during the week, getting Rossi on the receiving end this time round.
The race will write a different story again, I'm quite sure.

Pedro Acosta wins the Doha GP from pitlane start and 9 secs handicap on the opening lap. Guess we have a new Moto3 prodigy in the making. Given Masia and Binder have a knack for crashing, he could be one to watch for this season.

Lowes holds off Gardner in Moto2. Raul Fernandez 3rd.

Fernandez and Ogura look really competitive among the Moto3 graduates so far. Arbolino and Arenas not so much.

Who would have picked a French 1-2? Especially after the start Jorge Martin got.

Brilliant ride from Quartararo.... he was no where at the start and then suddenly he was up fighting for a podium and then sliced through what for the first 3/4 of the race was looking like a Ducati podium.

Hmmmm dont know Rossi was doing.

Zarco leads the Championship

Only 9 seconds covered the Top 15. That's really impressive.

(Factory-)Ducatis have learnt fast, the semi works team has been hung out to dry though.
After having seen the wee fight between Alcoba and McPhee in Moto3 and knowing its outcome penalty wise, I'm quite surprised (not) that Miller got away unbeheaded. Different scales for measurements once more.

Marquez is cleared to race!
of course, it does not sound like he is 110% fit yet from this press release:
In the review carried out on Marc Marquez by the Hospital Ruber Internacional medical team, four months after surgery, led by Doctors Samuel Antuña and Ignacio Roger de Oña, and made up of Doctors De Miguel, Ibarzabal and García Villanueva, for an infected pseudoarthrosis of the right humerus, a very satisfactory clinical condition was found, with evident progress in the bone consolidation process. In the current situation, Marquez can return to competition, assuming the reasonable risk implicit in his sporting activity.
Another question is: where does Honda stand today? Marquez has famously been the only rider to have been good on it the last few years, but he's been out for 9 months now. All other manufacturers, except maybe Ducati, has done significant improvements lately, but Honda may have been developing blind, at least for Marquez' taste during that time.

It will be interesting to see if he comes back still with his mantra of 'if you dont drop it in practice a few times you have not explored the limits' that he seemed to have pre his lyoff. Will this break have made him realise he is not immortal and cant always get up and dust himself off, jump on the spare bike and set pole or will he bit a bit more reserved. I guess he also has no real idea of the quirks this years bike may have, as @Cheeveer mentioned has not been around to direct the development to his tastes / style.

It will be an interesting weekend for him. Will he be straight back on the pace? Who knows, but with a couple of practice sessions under his belt I am sure he wont be too far off the mark. (pun intended)
