Bottom post of the previous page:

Mir only needs two 9th place finishes to clinch the title. It's more than probable if he simply doesn't crash out.

However starting down in 12th might lead to some first lap drama. Good thing Zarco is so far ahead of him

Embarassing quartararo melted
Like snow on the sun. Mir will be champion today if he arrives 9th. Nobody would expect that at the beginning of the season. Fabio was boasted as the real challenger at the beginning of the season and the only one who could win the title after marquez injure. Instead he felt in a backward spiral and now it will be very hard to regain self consciousness now. I wonder if yamaha did the right choice of pairing him and vinales on the official team for next season. Maybe if they could choose now they would have put dovi and morbidelli, who showed a consistant growth during the season

The biggest motorsport sensation of 2020. Joan Mir and Suzuki. Where did they come from? Unbelievable!

Utterly brilliant last lap from Morbidelli and Miller.

Mir 7th wins him the title with one race to go. Congrats to him and Suzuki on their first since Kenny Jnr 20 years ago.

Quartararo tried to throw away on the first lp again, but kept going and did it properly a few laps later. What a disappointment he has been of late.

Mir has won the title by being the most consistent points scorer this year. A consistency Quartararo never reached.
This season has been brilliant though. Week in, week out something different.

Everybody is talking about quartararo while he just arrived 5th in the championship. Morbidelli has 3 wins this year and is second in the standing then rins and vinales. We’ve been talking of a driver who hasn’t really been a contender this year

What a fantastic season it has been, and so nice to see Suzuki on top again. Mir has had a stellar season, and Rins has been superfast as well when he hasn't been throwing his bike. They really made the new Michelin rear tyre work best, Ducati never got the hang of it and Yamaha were too inconsistent as well as getting into engine trouble late in the season.

Oh, and what a last lap that was.

Just looking ahead to 2021 season in the minor classes - since there is no 2021 banter thread yet - what is the NTS doing signing a would-be 17 year old Barry Baltus to a Moto2 contract? The kid needs at least one if not two seasons of Moto3. He still hasn't scored a single point in Moto3 this season.

Syahrin/Bendsneyder pairing would make a lot more sense esp. with Bo coming off NTS' best result ever in Valencia IIRC.

Baldassarri goes back to Forward to lead the MV Agusta charge. Sigh. Hard to imagine four years ago I rated him higher than Franco Morbidelli.

Six current Moto3 riders will move up to Moto2 next season (Arenas, Ogura, Fernandez, Arbolino, Vietti and Baltus).

Meanwhile the 2021 Moto3 rookie class looks completely underwhelming. Top 3 from this year's Moto3 Junior World Championship makes the jump (Izan Guevara, Xavier Artigas who got a podium as wild card in Valencia 2019 and Pedro Acosta). Also Lorenzo Fellon replaces Niccolo Antonelli at SIC58 Course. And that's about it. Oh, there's Andi Izdihar swapping places with Ogura in Team Asia too.

All the underperforming vets like Antonelli or Migno will be back albeit with new teams. Yay! Not! :rockedover:

Estrella Galicia leaves Moto3 after this season. Once a blue-chip team, they really struggled since Alex Marquez graduated to Moto2. They will focus on Talent Cup and Moto3 Junior Champs. Sky VR46 is also leaving Moto3.

That blind brow is spectacular but a disaster waiting to happen.

Anyway, Oliveira on pole for his home race tomorrow.

OMG..... what about yellow flags? No one slowed up. They are crazy.

Having said that on the brow of a hill aint the safe place to do that.He was on the deck before he crested the hill though so the marshalls there should have been flagging like crazy.

Very lucky guy. Hope he bought a lottery ticket last night.

Congrats to Bastianini who won the Moto2 title by coming 5th, as Gardner wins his first Moto2 race (from pole with fastest lap as well). Kudos to Sam Lowes who rode to a podium with broken bones in his hand.... sadly not enough to take the title but a brave run to even be on the grid.

Great dice for the lead between Marini and Gardner with Lowes waiting for them to take each other out.... in the end Gardner took Marini with a great pass just over a lap from the flag.

Albert Arenas won the Moto3 title over Ai Ogura and Tony Arbolino, who were covered by 11 points for the title at the start of the race. as Raul Fernandez scored a dominant win. Arenas won in the end by 4 points having finished only 12th. Arbolino finished the race 5th with Arbolino 8th.
