Loved Peter Hickmans explanation of giving up half a second on the entry to a straight but gaining a sec and more on the exit

The last week I learnt two things.
I'll be going to the TT, even if it is going to be the last time until 2021.
The conditions are still unknown and I'll get to know them by the start of May only, but at least I'll be there.

Secondly, my landlord has moved from the top of Onchan down to Douglas.
The way to the grandstand area remains about the same but now I'll be close to downtown Douglas and don't have the long pilgrimages up to Onchan past midnight as I'm basically living at the top of downtown Douglas :D

And then there's a series of three books called Frank'n'Stans Bucket List by JC Williams. It is about two mates, Frank and Stan. Frank gets diagnosed with cancer and finds out that his wife cheats on him. Stan then talks him into a bucket list on which the Isle of Man TT races, which they both remember from their childhood days, sits on the very top. Both end up sponsoring a sidecar crew from the lower end of the field. A very funny read through both #1 and #2 so far.
You may ask, why only #1 and #2 if there are three books already. Well, the third book has only been released last week and I have it already but I have to learn hard for the next exam on April, 9 so I'm not getting around to read it.
The reason I'm mentioning it is another. Towards the release of #3 it was announced that there'll be a sidecar outfit in this years TT sporting the Frank'n'Stan colours and that everyone who donates 30 gbp to the team gets their name printed on the outfit. Some call it crowdfunding but in reality it is a form of co-sponsoring. The team consists of driver Dave Quirk and my good mate Karl Schofield in the passenger seat.
I'm in, since I've done similar each year I went, plus 2016.
I've already joked with Karl that in regards to book #1, I'm not afraid that he doesn't have enough cold beer but please, he better should get that worn leather clad sofa along :haha:
Best you get these books to get the joke. Really a great read :haha: :haha:

I'm getting all excited again. Counting days doesn't even cover it

@Andy Glad to read you are going.... have a safe and great time and look forward to your reports and photos as usual. Hopefully the weather Gods shine and the event is not too disrupted.
Are you flagging/marshalling whilst there?

Travel day has been coming up quick
Plane departs Hannover at 9:45pm Manchester bound tonight and following a night of camping in Manchesters terminal 2 I should hit IoM grounds late morning tomorrow.
Weatherwise it should be OK, coz it somehow seems highly unlikely that it is going to be another 2017. :haha:

I'll be marshaling again and have split my time 50/50 between marshaling and taking photos. Living downton Douglas again should prove good either. I hope you @Everso Biggyballies support me with timing/results sheets once more.

See you soon :bye:

So as it stands first Qualifying had been postponed to tomorrow 12.45 local time because of real crap weather of which the classic sidecars got the thick end once more today.
pic below shows Mike Hose at Stadium during 2nd 850cc Qualifying today.

That would explain why I could not find any results on the TT live timing!

First practice in.
Just lightweights and supersports though.

Todays spot at Quarterbridge. Picture shows newcomer Daniel Mettam who would come off at the Verandah just minutes after this pic was taken. I can't say how he is but heard some nasty rumours from the two German speaking newcomers.

I'm off to bed now since it is going to be an early off for the final day at the Pre TT classics down Billown tomorrow morning

The postponed first qualifying session of the 2019 Isle of Man TT took place in blustery but sunny conditions on Sunday afternoon.

Once the newcomers - solos and sidecars - had completed their obligatory guided sighting lap, the supersport and lightweight qualifying got underway. Solo newcomers were also permitted to take part, having their first chance to get to know the course in racing conditions.

2018 sensation Dean Harrison unsurprisingly topped the day's times with a best lap of 126.09mph, out of the six he completed on the Silicone Engineering Racing Kawasaki ZX6R.

On his MD Racing Honda CBR600RR bike, Michael Dunlop managed 123.90mph, Conor Cummins went round at an average of 123.71mph on his fifth lap of the session and Jamie Coward and Gary Johnson also impressed.

Coward proved even more formidable on the lower powered lightweight machine clocking a very impressive 119.96mph, pushing last year's class winner Michael Dunlop into second on the day at 118.52mph and RC Express Racing new recruit Paul Jordan repaid the team's faith at 117.45mph.

Meanwhile, John McGuinness, who completed his first qualifying laps as a Norton rider recorded a best of 111.77mph.

Emergency session called off but we are still on for an evening session.
But it doesn't look too good at the minute . Fingers crossed
