Armoy road races had to be cancelled yesterday due to deteoritating weather conditions. Also a paramedic (I know quite well from travelling together during TT) got injured in a collision with an ambulance vehicle. Non life-threatening condition is reported so far.
Get well soon, Allister, speedy recovery.

Paul Robinson wins the final Irish Road Race at Killalane as well as the 125/moto3 championship and retires.
Ballymoney’s Paul Robinson capped his final ever Irish road racing appearance in perfect style as he won the Moto3/125 race at Killalane on Sunday to secure the championship crown.
Robinson told the News Letter last month that he planned to hang up his helmet at the end of the season and said winning the Irish title at Killalane would represent a fitting note on which to bow out.

Paul Robinson celebrates winning the Irish Moto3/125 Championship at Killalane on Sunday with his son Max after taking victory in his final road race. He trailed Derek McGee by nine points going into the final race, but Robinson overcame the deficit by taking the win while Mullingar man McGee could only manage to finish fourth behind Melissa Kennedy. Gary Dunlop took the runner-up spot on the Joey’s Bar Honda behind Robinson as the championship reached a dramatic conclusion at the East Coast Festival, which is sponsored this year by hit TV show Mrs Brown's Boys.

Robinson, who is a former winner at the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix, said he felt the time was right to call time on his career for the sake of his five-year-old son Max. His own father, Mervyn Robinson, died in a crash at the North West 200 in 1980. The death of his cousin, William Dunlop, at Skerries in July also caused him to question his continued participation in the sport.

More news from Killalane:
Derek Sheils dominated the Grand Final at the East Coast Racing Festival at Killalane to bring the curtain down on the 2018 Irish road racing season. The Dubliner, back in action on the domestic scene for the first time since taking some time out following the ill-fated Skerries 100 in July, was in a league of his own on the Burrows Engineering Racing Suzuki GSX-R1000, taking the chequered flag by 18 seconds from Michael Sweeney (MJR BMW).

Paul Jordan was a further five seconds back as he took third place, with Thomas Maxwell, Kevin Fitzpatrick and Paul Gartland finalising the top six. Sheils’ team-mate, Davey Todd, plus Derek McGee did not start the race. McGee won the first Supersport 600 race from Sheils to wrap up the Irish title. He also clinched the Superbike and Supertwins crowns before Killalane In the second 600 outing, Sweeney emerged victorious after a race-long battle with Jordan, taking the win by 0.1 seconds. Andy Farrell was 20 seconds back in third.

Sheils, McGee and Todd were absent Skerries man Sweeney made it a double as he won the Supertwins race from Todd and Stephen McKnight. Irish champion McGee, still not fully fit after his crash at Dundrod, decided to sit out the race. Liam Chawke won the Senior Support race from Wayne Sheehan, with Brian Loughlin victorious in the Junior Support race from Barry Sheehan. Davy Morgan won the Lightweight race from Darryl Tweed. Phillip Shaw and Barry Davidson were the respective winners of the Senior Classic and Junior races.
