Bottom post of the previous page:

There is.
DSQ basically means getting deleted from the results while a time penalty still keeps the culprit inside the results.
Given someone commits to something and just gets punished with a time penalty during the race, the culprit has to make up as much time as possible and still can get into points. Someone DSQ'ed can't

Can we clarify, are you arguing a DSQ for the reckless riding during the race, or his antics on the starting grid?

Each of his three single actions on the grid normally would have lead to a black flag, which later would have appeared as a DSQ on timing sheets.

1st. refusing to remove the stalled bike from grid
2nd performing the bump start through the grid
3rd rolling against racing direction back to his grid slot

There is another difference between a dsq and a time penalty. A finisher regardless in which position receives a finishing award. Someone listed as DSQ is excluded from result and receives exactly nothing.

Phillip Island is on this weekend, but sadly P1 for Moto3 suffered a red flag for track conditions. There was a combination of rain and a lot of oil from I presume a blown engine. Rain hit the Victorian circuit just moments before this morning's Moto3 practice session, the difficult conditions worsened considerably when Stefano Nepa's KTM left a long trail of oil around the track 12 minutes in.The session was red flagged for nearly two hours but is back underway again.

Crutchlow breaks his ankle following a high-speed crash.

Iannone fastest, while Honda is having huge issues with it's front on a cold track.

SB83 wrote: 5 years ago Explain me this. What's the difference between him being DSQ'd vs. the time penalty which relegated him to 18th place? In either situation, the outcome would've meant no points for him, so why the clamouring for a DSQ?
None whatsoever, other than DORNA setting a precedence for future reckless riding.
DORNA is far too lenient on exceeding track limits at certain tracks already. If they slapped people with DT instead of some 1-2 secs. penalties that would show some intent.

I believe they got caught out by the startline chaos in Argentina anyway. That was a shitshow that exceeded the rulebook imagination though MM doing the reverse was worthy of a penalty. Whether it was time added or a flat out DQ is debatable.

Cracking must see Moto3 race at PI. Action and spills all the way plenty of slip streaming, and the 4th closest ever finish.... top 15 covered by a second I heard said.

moto 2 coming up soon. In fact it has just started.

Moto 2 wasnt a bad race either. I wont spoil the results because I am sure many will watch at a more sociable time.

The squabbling between Rossi, Dovi & Suzukis helped him a lot. Then it was too late to close the gap esp. for Iannone whom the Polish TV crew touted as the biggest favorite to win the race :whistling:

I'd be keen to see an overlay of both Zarco's and Marquez' telemetric data in this one instance, from start line towards crash point.
