Bottom post of the previous page:

Here's quite a nice article by Adam Child, a moto journo who has raced the TT himself. It is about how he plots along on a race day from getting up to the famous tap on the shoulder.

Not the best of news are coming from Spielberg today. German right below, English at the bottom of the screen.
All the best for a speedy recovery Horst.
Danke fürs Daumen drücken und eure positiven Gedanken!
Liebe Grüsse, Tamara und die drei Buben

***
Unfortunately, we have to inform you, that Horst crashed very badly in the second turn after some laps. We don't know what the technical problem was, but he had no brakes.
He is now in artificial coma because of his very bad injuries. He is in critical condition but stable.
He needs time and we have to wait and hope that everything comes well...
Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed and your positive thoughts!

Any accident on Austria's RedBull Ring is likely to be high speed, and brake failure there is far from what you want to face.
Best wishes to Horst for a swift and full recovery. :fingers:

T1 ! If there's few run off for an F1 vehicle the fewer it will be for a lowsiding as well as spinning and rolling motorcycle including its rider (which I assume did happen).

Good news from the BBC:
Horst Saiger's partner Tamara has reported that he is breathing on his own again after being taken off a ventilator as he continues to recover in hospital from a serious crash.

The Austrian road racer was initially described as "critical but stable" after crashing during a testing session at the Red Bull Ring but appears to now be making progress in his recovery.

"Horst has opened his eyes and doesn't need ventilated any more," said Tamara in a Facebook post, adding that she had been able to talk to the 49-year-old.

"On Saturday we were able to talk to him for the first time. We were incredibly happy," she added.

"However there are also some things that worry us - but we are not thinking about them right now, but are delighted that he is back.

"Thankyou very much for your support at this difficult time."

Saiger, a regular competitor at the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix international road races, was placed in an induced coma after his accident, which appeared to be caused by a brakes failure.

Talking to and conversing with are totally different things. It sounds more positive than initially however, so that's great news.

Some more positive news from Horst.
It appears that an operation on his left arm went pretty well, as it looks like that either amputation or a prosthesis were possible options.

Just found this schedule for reviews of the Barry Sheene Classic, if you are interested that is.
If it's on ITV4 it will be possible to get it down from their website if you can't watch it when it is aired.

Is the '24' on the Bugatti track at Le Mans as usual? Hopefully all goes ok with the recent Covid spike in France. I guess it is spectator free... I think the LM24 car race is also behind closed doors next month.

Yup, behind closed doors as well as on the Bugatti circuit.
In other random news in regards to the LM24 du Moto, Peter Hickman has joined Ilya Michalchik, Markus Reiterberger and Kenny Foray in the BMW Endurance factory squad.

Edit:
A small addon here.
The FIM Sidecar World Championship has cancelled its season entirely this week, which means that I'm not going to see them at Oschersleben on the first weekend of October. Actually, I do ponder going at all since the tickets remain on the same high price level as before the world slideys cancellation at almost 38€ per day for the two day meeting and a 'slightly' cheaper 56. something €. In comparison, before their respective cancellations both the Superbike as well as the Endurance World Championships were at a 30 per day rate while the weekend tix rate escapes me for the moment.
OK they can only allow fewer spectators in (if anyone at all) but to have the few going paying for those not allowed to get in seems somewhat ridiculous

Sorry for the lack of updates from the weekends racing. The LM24 was a nailbiter, it truly was despite a huge lead by the winners but changing weather made it tough as nails and claimed a victim in the at the time 4th running BMW factory team when Ilja Mykhalchyk crashed the Bimmer beyond repairability with just 10 minutes to go.

I've been busy doing my 37.75 mile Manx Grand Prix 2020 Celebration laps in recognition of a few lads, in connection to the Manx Grand Prix of course. The basic idea was to do 37.75 miles, the length of one lap on the Mountain Course, in recognition or memory of someone during the fortnight this years MGP would have taken place. Your choice and you got a sticker with the name on it as well.
I did my ride through the southern gate to the Lüneburger Heide and stopped after exactly 37.75 miles at Braunschweig airport for an ice. My ride has been in recognition of my good mate Phil Bancroft, the very person who lured me into marshaling the Mountain Course during the 2017 Manx Grand Prix.

Due to the ongoing C19 pandemic TT 2021 has been canceled, as announced on Manxradio at high noon local time. :(
Word on Manx GP/CTT is an announcement towards the end of March 2021

That's a shame. When was the last year the TT wasn't run? I expect it was a long time ago (unless 2020 was cancelled too?)
