Cousin of Maverick Vinales, and just 15 years old. So very sad.
Vinales was competing in his maiden season in WorldSSP300 on a Yamaha this year, riding for the family-run Vinales Racing Team that was founded by Maverick’s father Angel at the start of the year to promote young Spanish talent in motorsport.

Vinales scored a best finish of fourth in the second race at Magny-Cours last month and qualified 10th on the grid for this weekend's WSBK races in his home country.

RIP Dean Berta Viñales

Sad news coming from Bavaria today, as Reinhold Roth has passed away aged 68 due to collapsing lungs as well as kidney failure, how Speedweek.com reports
Reinhold 'Jointie' Roth had been a two time 250cc GP vice world champion before a horrible accident ended his career at Rijeka in 1990 which left him in a state of child following severe brain traumata and bleedings.

Ride in peace, Jointie

Just spotted this news. Very sad, but he spent a long time in a not so pleasant state.

Well, according to his (ex-)wife, he has been as happy as one could be and doing really good as far as circumstances allowed the past few years. Sounds to me that he had accepted his fate and moved on if he had the consciousnes to do so. If he hadn't have this bit of consciousnes he still evolved, even if it only means from a 4 year old to a 6 year old brain.

Such a sad news.
After Dick Mann and another one, whose name I've currently forgot about, the third Daytona 200 winner this year.

Paul Smart: 1943-2021

Image
Former Grand Prix and Isle of Man TT racer Paul Smart has died at the age of 78 following a road traffic collision on Wednesday October 27.
Source: https://www.motorcyclenews.com/sport/20 ... mart-dies/

Obituary by Mat Oxley:
Paul Smart, who has died following a road accident, rode through one of the greatest crossroads in motorcycle-racing history: from British dominance to Japanese dominance, from four-stroke to two-stroke and from treaded tyres to slick tyres.

All these seismic changes were happening at the same time and Smart was right there in the middle of it, successfully navigating his way through what must have been one of the most confusing periods in the sport’s history...

It is always very sad when a rider / driver survives the dangers of competing for years and then dies in a road accident often as an innocent party. Hailwood comes to mind

RIP Paul Smart.

Oh man ... I just thought of Smartie when I wrote the 1972 Daytona 200 entry list for Jesper together last weekend and Smartie appeared near bottom end due to alphabetical order. That said, 'writing together' would have been copy & paste the old way, flipping pages, reading & penning it down :haha:

Ride in peace, Smartie
It was great meeting you that one time & have a great time up there with your brother-in-law, Barry Sheene.
