Bottom post of the previous page:

PTRACER wrote:I think that was your idea in the first place, it's probably the best solution to the problem  If the list of names is longer than say, 5 or 6, then don't bother to list them at all, just use the Description to say "X number of people were killed/hurt/whatever". The pictures themselves are the most important aspect of this project, the data is presented in a simple form so people can find the photos easily.

'Pierre Levegh' should be sufficient for Le Mans 1955, but we should also list 'Lance Macklin' and 'Mike Hawthorne' under 'Driver(s)' as they were involved in the crash. I've filled some of this information into the database (Les Spangler for example) and added driver names where only the riding mechanic was listed. I have also simplified their names - people can look up their full, official names on other sites if required. I hope you're okay with this :)
Yes, no problem for that.
PTRACER wrote:If you have all the information compiled and prepared for F1 crashes, please feel free to enter it into the database! Siffert has already been done, but it was a non-championship race so it's not to be included. Ricardo Rodriguez, no.

Castellotti, Cabianca, Anderson, Depailler, De Angelis etc. could be included, as there are only really half a dozen or so testing fatalities anyway.
That would include Castellotti, Anderson (we haven't anything about his crash, sadly), Depailler and De Angelis.
Cabianca was testing a Formula Intercontinental car (and he was not preparing for a WDC event, as far as I know), so I wouldn't include him.
But, I don't know why, it sounds unfair (to me) to add testing crashes and not those who died during non-championship F1 races... :whistling:
PTRACER wrote:I'm currently writing an email about the database, which I will send out to all users today. I'm doing some more data entry first though.
Let's hope someone will help us.

If you want to include non-championship crashes, don't let me stop you ;)

Now, it's been a long hard day, but all the available Brands Hatch crashes are now in the database, along with some from other British racing circuits which were on the same page.

I was starting the "F1 WDC fatal crashes" project, but I realized I had already entered the Lewis-Evans' crash.
So there are two records for him. How can I delete the earlier one?

Sorry I've been taking a bit of a break from the forum.

You have to find the original record using the search box, click the checkbox to the left of the photo, then click the button at the top "With Selected > Delete".

Thank you.
I thought it wasn't available, to prevent accidental deletions of records.

Should I add Revsonto the database? He actually died during an official test session, while, for example, Anderson and De Angelis died during private tests (before an F1 event).

Yeah, it's a big important one so you may as well!

Btw, I just noticed the Chris Bristow crash, first picture. I've never seen it before, what does it show exactly? :dunno:

Oh yes, I can see! You can see him lying on the track, "inside" the O. Shame it's heavily watermarked, it's difficult to see the details (though I doubt the actual photo is any better)

"Only" £25.00 for an A4 print, hmm...Plus there's another photo in the archives which they haven't scanned, which you can pay £5 to get them to scan.

I mentioned it in the signup sheet, but I am currently gathering various wrecks from ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America). Those unaware, ARCA is a midwest-based series that acts mosty as feeder to NASCAR; fielding NASCAR-spec cars on major NASCAR speedways (Daytona, Talladega, Pocono, Michigan, etc.). Notable ARCA alumni have included Benny Parsons, Kyle Petty, Davey Allison, Ryan Newman, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., among others.
