The rebirth of the Crash Photos Database
The other day I found all the files relating to the Crash Photos Database. Unfortunately the database itself was gone, so I've recreated it manually
It's a little empty at the moment but it's...IT'S BACK *cries*

If I have some time, and people are interested, I will recreate it properly. With drop down menus and clickable bits so people don't have to struggle with spellings etc. when inputting info

Looks nice, but also like a huge amount of work.
Is it a database containing pics from our crash threads only?

It's meant to be yeah. I'm so upset with myself, deleting all the work that was done previously...but that was 10 or so years ago. We can do it again in a different way now. Maybe we have too many photos, maybe we should only include what's important.
I can only support this project from afar, I don't have time to contribute too much to it. So if people want to add photos to it at their own will, that's fine. Stick to the most significant crashes only.

hey, I remember this!

Blast from the past right?
The layout looks broken though, no idea why. Will try to fix.

Ok, I registered. I've seen some test images (I believe). So... what should we do?

When it's time to take it seriously, I'll delete all test data and we'll do it properly!

Not a suggestion, but a question: will you make the database publicly available?

I forgot to ask: could we change the field "driver" with something like "involved"?
We have a lot of crashes that involved marshals, spectators, riding mechanics, ...

Publicly available? In what way?Motorsportrace wrote:Not a suggestion, but a question: will you make the database publicly available?
Regarding the 'Involved' - that's probably a good idea. I'm currently working on a solution that would allow multiple names and multiple images to be stored in each record. This wasn't possible with the original CPDB.

Formatting is still off, on the tablet anyway, the top listing is aligned left, the photo listing thumbnail thing is aligned right, 'new web' is a PITA as formatting never looks the same in two different browsers, see how tbk has been fubar'd with the latest phpbb for an example, the alignment of columns etc are all over the place.PTRACER wrote:Installed an entirely new system, check out the first link guys!

Anyway I digress, I am pretty sure it previously said whether you were logged in or not, and I cannot remember if I logged in on this tablet or the PC, but just now I was able to access the edit page for one of the photos and it wasn't telling me if I was logged in or not.
So I dunno it it is by design, or whether anybody can edit the photo's, or whether it was just me because i was logged in, if that's the case, are you sure you want anybody being able to edit the database? You know what these kids are like today, any excuse to fuck something up, especially if someone else has put in the work to build it.
Also I was going to ask last night, instead of having the large photo open in a new tab/page, had you thought about using a light box to display it on the same page?
P.s is this php/mysql based?
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.
If this is the case, you may click here to solve the problem, or alternatively here too.

I'm in the middle of editing it so it's not quite right at the moment.
And yes, by design it can be edited by anyone right now.
I'd like to have a lightbox yeah. At the moment the only way to get an image to display is to use $value = <img src="'.$value.'" /> I want multiple images to display, so you can put more than one URL in the box and separate it with a comma.
If you know how to get the images to display in an array based on comma separated values inside a lightbox solely using PHP code, feel free to tell me

Many of these problems now solved. Who inputted the latest Bandini/Hill crash?
Just a tip - for more than one image, place each URL on a new line. Do the same for multiple drivers!
Motorsportrace: I'll eventually add another box called 'Involved' so if a spectator is killed, or a marshall, you put their name in that box instead.
This is evolving so beautifully
