Final lap and Doohan has pulled away a bit fromMartins and Smolyar, Collet Novalak Vesti Sargeant Hauger Schumacher and Leclerc the top 10 / points getters.
The rain seems to have stopped but the track is still moist. Not sure for the next coule og hours before the main race for F1.

The F3 race has shown what we all knew.... overtaking likleyhood minimal, and with the F3 desperation happened towards the end and it ended in tears and a long SC. The other thing I noticed was gravel being dragged onto the circuit.
Anyway a seemingly very long SC interruption followed by a restart when eventually I saw a pass by Hauger on Martins that took a few corners of side by side stuff to eventually get done.
Arthur Leclerc led from the front to win despite Sargeant behind seemingly having much more pace but could not make a pass. Leclerc benefitted from making a mistake in qualifying, but that gave him a start at the front.
A circuit like this where the races use this ridiculous qualifying rigmarole they insist on using just makes for a frustrating race.

Well, I have seen a few overtakes in the 2nd F3 race, not all of them DRS assisted.
But I must say watching them try caused me many bottom clenching moments on my part. And a couple of SCs.
One of which left us with a 2 lap sprint to the flag. That restart resulted in series leader Hauger getting a puncture and going from a position where he would have extended his lead, running 4th, to being out of the points. Fortunately for him in sympathy 2nd in the title race, Jack Doohan, decided to drive off the track and take himself out of the points also.
Martins won the race having been one of the few who managed to overtake a few, with Novalak 2nd and Vesti 3rd.

Calendar change for Formula 3 Championship
The F3 Championship will head to Sochi in Russia for the final round of the 2021 season following a change to the schedule.
The feeder series was scheduled to visit the Circuit of The Americas in support of the F1 US GP
Increased costs and logistical challenges were cited as reasons for the change, which sees it join the FIA Formula 2 Championship in supporting the Russian Grand Prix.
Or is it the Austin GP is on dodgy ground?
Seeing as we are talking Championship, just a current status update as of after race 2 at Zandvoort.....
Hauger still leads from Doohan but Martins in 3rd has closed on both of them, having scored a win and FL in race 2 at Zandy.... with both Doohan and Hauger scoring a big donut.
So total points with one race left in Holland and just the final round in Sochi (see above) to go after this
Hauger 163
Doohan 138
Martins 116
Vesti 113
Novalak 104
With tomorrows race worth 25 points (plus F/L bonus of 2 points per race) and Sochi worth 2x15 points and a 25 point feature race (55 points total) there are 80 points still on the table. Clearly Hauger is the favourite with a 25 point lead as of now, but its F3 and anything can happen.
Hauger also happens to have pole for Sunday's race at Zandvoort, with Martins starting 3rd, Doohan 4th and Novalek 5th.
David (son of Ralf) Schumacher starts 2nd
Yes they run the feature race in proper qualifying order.

Ticktum just managed to run out of talent in the first F2 race with a spin in front of others at the chicane, getting hit by a couple. Nothing serious but he looked to be having or getting ready to have his usual tantrum when he got out.

Final F2 race is go.
Samaia had a minor shunt coming out of Lesmo, ended up in the middle of the track so we've got a SC. Piastri leads Zhou and Lawson

Restart.
Lawson sends it around the outside of Zhou through the second chicane.

Damnit Lawson stopped on the straight.
SC out.
Piastri leads Zhou now but there's a couple of people who will be on fresh tyres (Ticktum, Lundgaard, Armstrong) and will have a few laps to get past 10 cars or so on older tyres.

Pretty wild restart, few cars off. Not sure how there wasn't more damage. Piastri locked up at the first chicane and Zhou had a good go into the second chicane but didn't clear him.
