So what is the superlicence status of Fittipaldi? Instant qualification due to Indy experience?
Not sure.
But he hasn't got that much Indycar experience. He broke his leg sports car racing (at Spa?) and wrote off half the season.
The main key to his S/L was winning the World Series Formula V8 3.5 championship in 2017. AKA Formula Renault 3.5 before Renault bailed,
He hasn’t raced (aside from virtual stuff!) for much of 2020. He competed in the Asian F3 series earlier this year, where he collected the final superlicence points he needed to qualify to race in F1.
Obviously the FIA Covid break of allowing those trying for an S/L a drop of 10 points I think it was..... Previously I think it was 50 points needed to qualify, but due to Covid and restricted opportunity to add much this year they dropped the requirement to 40 points. Helped a few I think.

Whilst discussing Fittipaldi and Tsunoda as we have it is also worth throwing Mazepin into the mix.... he needs a result to qualify for his S/L
Mazepin has to finish at least seventh in the 2020 F2 championship in order to qualify for the licence and, after taking fifth and second places in last weekend's races in Bahrain he now lies third. So he should be ok as long as he doesnt have a double DNF, or go down with Covid etc.
Even then it would need remarkable finishes from the lower placings to upset his plans. Again I am sure a bit of post season young driver testing, or even an Abu Dhabi FP1 etc might be needed.

F2 qualifying on now. An important session, with 4 points going to the polesetter after this session.
This might give us some indication of what Q1 for F1 will be like.... 20 cars out on a short lap looking for a perfect lap uninfluenced by traffic and other cars.

Session red flagged with 4 minutes left.as Ghiotto spins and drops it into the kitty litter.
Advantage of such a pissy little track is that outlaps dont take long and so everyone will have time for an outlap and a couple of flyers.

Schumacher has crashed out when roy Nissany drove into the back of him. He will start 18th at best. His worst starting position of the year. Ilott will start 9th, so not greaty but still has a chance of pulling in some of Schu's points lead.
Session has been red flagged and wont restart. Pole for Tsunoda and 4 points bonus will help his championship and Superlicence hopes.

Tsunoda's race win yesterday pretty much guarantees he will get a Superlicence..... Yesterday's points for the win mean he cannot finish the championship lower than the 4th he needs to gain an S/L. So that looks likely to seal Kvyat's fate within the Alpha Tauri team, with it having been said by AT principal Franz Tost that Tsunoda will get the gig if he gains a Superlicence.
P1&2 finishers Tsunoda and Mazepin have however become Mathematic impossibilities for the championship. That is now between Ilott and Schumacher[

Mazepin should be penalised

Mazepin was penalised.....
Mick Schumacher went from 18th on the grid to seventh, and secured the points for fastest lap, while main title rival Callum Ilott finished sixth.
Schumacher was promoted to sixth and Ilott to fifth when Mazepin was given a double post-race time penalty.
It still looks good for the title going Schumachers way.... all he has to do is finish today's race in the points...... Ilott effectively has to win the reverse-grid race from fourth on the grid, with Schumacher - who will line up third - out of the points.
Stranger things have happened in Motorsport.... especially in feeder series races. Schu in reality just needs to stay out of trouble and finish the race in the points
