Will be interesting to see how they do. They must have driven modern F1 cars in testing before, right?

I dunno. With the severe limits on testing now it's doubtful, not like the good old days

They are due to drive at Fiorano in 2018 cars, before Schu and Illott take to FP1 at the Eiffel GP for Alfa and Haas. Schwartzman at Abu Dhabi team not decided.
I think Schu drove an SF90 last year in Bahrain (rookie testing?)

Nissany is the only one to have driven in free practice this season?

Can 2019 cars be tested? That may be a plan for Ferrari lol

Did anyone notice Charouz were claiming that Prema had used a 'non homogeneous drs unit'?

Can only find mention of it on their website.

They then go on to say that everyone called Schumacher is a cheat. Well the goalkeeper certainly was

Yes, both Everso and myself noted that but couldn't make any sense of the translated text.

Just a reminder that F2 are running as support this weekend in Bahrain, as we get close to the championship finale. No F3 though as they are done for the year.

F2 qualy is on now

edit.... just as I say F2 qualy iis on they wave a red flag to halt the session with 20 mins to go. Tsunoda seems to have stopped on track. He will be looking to optimise his championship position as by all account his move to Alpha Tauri in F1 is dependant of Super licence points gained this year, and he is currently borderline.

Yep not the start he would hve wanted. Shame as he was on for 2nd with the lp he was on.... until he spun and stalled. The fact he brought out a red flag meant he could take no further part.

Illot took pole and Schumacher down in 10th. That gives Illott a fairly good headstart in terms of cutting Schumacher's championship lead, with 4 points going to the pole setter. That leaves the gap at 18 points with 2 races this weekend and another two races next weekend...

I see Theo Pourchaire from F3 is having his first F2 outing this weekend.... Quite an impressive start given he outqualified his very experienced Russian teamate Markelov by over a second.

Illott closes the gap to Schumacher

A 2nd place finish for Calum Illot, with Mick Schu finishing 4th, means Schu still leads the title race, but with the gap now down to 12 points with 3 races remaining. (one tomorrow and two next weekend on the Bahrain 'outer ring'. Schu started 10th, and made up 5 spots in the start, whilst Illott started on pole and got beaten to T1 by eventual race winner Drugovich.
Drive of the day though was Tsunoda, who after bringing out a red flag in qualy and starting rear of grid (24th) fought his way through to finish 6th.

This is how the championship now stands. I think Tsunoda needs to finish 3rd in the title race to secure the points needed to get a Superlicence for F1 where he hopes to join Alpha Tauri, replacing Kvyat..

1 M. Schumacher 203
2. C. Ilott 191
3. Y. Tsunoda 157
4 N. Mazepin 150
5. C. Lundgaard. 145
6 R. Shwartzman 144

Mazepin passes him again despite a dodgy bit of defending from Schu.
