I told my wife to enter, so we had some turn one entertainment, her reply (other than go fuck yourself) was "I'm too old, too fat and not blonde enough, try again".

And the 50 qualifiers have been selected from over 3000 applicants. Anyone surprised to see Carmen Jordan in there? I haven't heard of any of them except BRDC F3 winner Jamie Chadwick, who finished 8th overall this year in the standings.

Relative unknowns apart from a few. Maybe that’s the point? I’m torn about this. Is it a reality tv show type project that’s going to turn these women into a sideshow at racing events, or is it going make a positive impact women drivers in motorsport?

All I can think of is that they’re trying to create inclusion by starting with segregation. That contradiction doesn’t make sense to me.

Good luck to them.

Yeah, I don't understand why they didn't just set up a female only team in GP3 instead... As with everything in racing, the title has to be worth something. How much would a W-series title be worth? How would you rate it against, say, British F3?

In the end though, like you said, Good luck to them. If it bolsters the ranks of good female drivers in the higher tiers, by all means.

Natalia Kowalska runs a karting school these days and serves as commentator for one of Polish TV motor racing channels. They're really crawling on the bottom of the charts if they included her in this 50 list :haha:

Someone beat you to it (not done solely to enter W, they started their transition some years ago), but "she" is not on the short list as far as I can tell.

Could you imagine the uproar if an entrant in the "women only" series was outed as a man who was going through gender reassignment surgery? It would kind of make a mockery of the entire idea, I was actually kind of hoping Charlie would be on the entry list, just so as to highlight exactly how stupid this series is. As kals said they're demanding inclusion by starting with segregation. Sounds a lot like a certain actress who took on a job and demanded pay parity and equality with the previous incumbent, only to now be crying off because she can't cope with the workload and responsibility that comes with the role.

I wonder if it was a requirement of entry that you had to be born female, oh, sounds a bit sexist that does doesn't it? Shhhhh could you imagine the uproar from the Femanist nazis if there was a free entry Motorsport series on offer with the only requirement for entry being, that you were male at birth? It would be pitchforks at dawn.

Another funny thing, just about everybody in management within this series is err, male. Oh if you were cynical one could be forgiven to making the assumption this was just another bandwagon money grab that'll probably last just about as long as A1GP did, and hopefully Formula E does once all the manufacturers see through the horseshit being peddled off the back of that lorry too.

....and the people in charge of this sport cannot work out why fans are turning away in thousands weekly?

Well, Poland's most prolific female driver right now would be Malgorzata 'Gosia' Rdest who competes in the GT4 European Series for Phoenix Racing. She's 23 yo and technically an upgrade over Kowalska who hasn't competed full-time in five years. Beitske Visser actually competes in the same series but in the superior class.

Driving road cars in the snow is a valid test on how good you are at racing F3 cars. Huh, time to go Craigslisting for a Volvo 240 and make a career for myself in the UK.

Now that this seems to be going ahead, I hope it works out. Really do. The question will still be how much clout a title will carry.
