Season four has already started at Hong Kong Grand Prix with win for Bird and today is the second race, who else watches it?

Buemi has been moaning about Di Grassi again. Same shit, different day.

I've recorded Race 2, but since there are only four posts in this thread I guess I won't have missed anything.

Or no one else watched it.

The racing is quite good tbh. It is is still a very polarizing racing formula. The hatred against the non petrol engined racing formula is amazing at least.

Well we had a safety car start, and two unforced errors making Race 2 quite unusual, but then one of the top 3 was disqualified...

DSQ for a procedural error. And the lead changed hands with only a few laps to go following an unforced error. Then there was Bird’s pit lane issues yesterday, an unusual weekend all round. At least Jaguar got their first podium.

I caught the last five laps earlier and it seemed entertaining.

One question? Are they still swapping cars mid-race or have they made the battery breakthrough we're all wanting?

I don't see any hatred of FE here Erwin, strung out races are strung out races whether they be powered by a petrol engine, a battery or feet on pedals, in fact the car swap is one of the more unique aspects of the event, if I was in charge I'd have double headers each meeting.

What does grate me is Formula E managements amazing capacity for self delusion, now that knows no bounds.

They still have to swap cars this season, but they say next season, batteries provided by mclaren are gonna last the whole race. Next race is on January 13th 2018.
The races were interesting with unexpected winners, Mortara's mistake with just some laps to finish cost him the victory in the second race, and the current champion Di Grassi didn't score a single point in the two races, Buemi just scored a point and he's favorite to the title too.
The curious data is that Daniel Abt wins the same day of his birthday.
What do you think about Bird's penalty in the first race?

The penalty of Bird in the first race wasn’t enough. I know the pit lane was dusty but it was the same for every other driver and he put many people in danger, not to mention his car change was illegal as he didn’t exit car 1in the pit garage. The penalty was even more galling when you consider what happened to Abt and the Audi squad after race 2.

@Ian-S I understand the battery life and subsequent car changes is being held for the first 4-5 seasons, to keep costs down. Then battery development will be opened up, like with power unit development.

I hope he enjoyed it for the period before he was disqualified from the results with the win going to second placed Rosenqvist. Abt was DSQ'd for a technical infringement, specifically the FIA security stickers on his car’s inverter and MGU units did not match those on its technical passport. Apparently the DSQ has been appealed to the FIA International Court of Appeal.... So a nice controversy filled start to the season with penalties and DSQ in both races. :sarcasm:

Audi has announced that it will not appeal Daniel Abt's exclusion from victory in the second race of Formula E's season-opening double-header in Hong Kong.
Audi had notified its intention to appeal Abt's exclusion, but will no longer do so.
"We took the time to carefully review all documents and processes," said Team Principal Allan McNish.

"We gained no advantage as a result of the administrative error and all parts fully complied to homologation and the technical regulations at all times.

"Still, we accept the decision of the FIA and fully back the technical passport regulations.

"Our team made a small mistake with big consequences that we own up to, unfortunately that deprived Daniel of his very deserved victory of which we can only apologise for.
