BBC 'Grand Prix' Extended Highlight Shows

#1

Post by NurPecky2 »

Hi all,
I've been scouring the ends of the internet for the past few months attempting to obtain all or as many of the 30 minute BBC 'Grand Prix' highlight shows from 1979-1996. I've managed to dig through various YouTube channels including your good selves to build up a half decent collection but I've hit a dead end. If anyone knows where to find, or indeed have any videos saved from dead links such as the BBC sport website or other youtube channels and would be willing to share, it would be hugely appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

This is the only place on the web where I found the BBC sport videos:

Unfortunately it's in Hungarian and the download method is incredibly inconvenient.

@PTRACER - do you know if it features extended highlights beyond 1996?

Especially interested in 1998 and 2000.

BBC stopped showing F1 at the conclusion of the 1996 season, so no BBC versions. There may be ITV versions for 97-08 (I think it returned to BBC for 09?)

exactly. I have the 1999 ITV extended highlights for example (which in concept and duration are the same as the BBC extended highlights).

if someone could help me with 1998 (and possibly other seasons like 2000): excellent Christmas present.

thank you, @erwin greven

I am aware of these.

rather, I mean the ITV extended highlights which are in a format similar to the BBC extended highlights (+- 35 min. per race).

perhaps @PTRACER can have a look on that Hungarian site if they have something of '98 and '00?
I tried registering for the site, but am unable to truly navigate the site. thanks for the help guys!

BBC stopped broadcasting at the end of 1996, so they did not make highlights. As far as I remember, nor did ITV.

afaik ITV did not make extended highlights. At least i never saw one.

Maybe you have to look for "RTLGP" or "RTL7". They did do some highlights of Formula 1 races in 1998.

I found these, but it is incomplete (parts are missing) and quality is not good.

Yes, it was Duke - I actually had every review from 1992 until 2014. I can't think what happened from 2015 onwards that would have stopped me buying something i'd had as a present every year since I was 9... Oh yeah. Shit, boring, predictable racing.

as for ITV, I have the equivalent extended highlights (+- 30 min. per Grand Prix weekend) for 1997 and 1999.
