Post by Jack Reynolds »

Looking for crash photo of car # 206. Ferry Sport 750. There is a published photo of the car in a field. Photo appeared in one of the large Italian books that covered the rain soaked 1956 Mille Miglia. Attached is car at start.

From Racingsportscars.com

Nothing of the crash that put Jaques Blaché out of the event if that is what you were after

It would be of tremendous assistance, if you would kindly be more specific, as to the title of the book, including the wreck photo.

My bad, I just realised a typo in my post in a critical area for searching..... I mispelt his (Christian) name. Should be Jacques Blaché with a 'c'.
@Jesper Hvid you might want to correct the name in the thread title. :wink:

@Jesper Hvid

Car involved is not a Ferrari, but a French Renault 4CV based Sports Car called a Ferry 750 Sport. The engine is a 750cc Renault.

This Ferry 750 Sport was built in Paris in 1955. It was a one-off. (Other Ferry's were built but different models. Another Ferry, a different model, won its class in the 1955 Mille Miglia.) The Jacques Blaché car was raced in the Sport 750 class in Europe driven by Jacques (and Louis Pons). It was entered at Le Mans in 1955 as a reserve (did not race). Also ran at endurance races at Rheims, Montlhery and the 1956 Mille Miglia resulting in a DNF due to an accident in the rain that is the subject of this thread.

I know this car was repaired after the Miglia shunt and then sold to the US (Jim Parkinson) in 1957 when he raced it there. I know it was still racing in California a decade later (by then owned by a Jack Reynolds) It is still in California now and was apparently recently restored having been found unloved in a barn or similar.

Let's see if we can find the title for the book in question.

Would you recognize the cover for the book you saw it in?

That it? 1956 official yearbook by the Automobile Club Brescia.

If highlights of '56 are in the following edition, it would be this one:

Not desperately important but a Jack Reynolds was one of the US guys that owned and raced the car after the Mille Miglia accident as mentioned above in a previous post.

That's rather a lot of money for one book.
