Shit, well my life genuinely feels a little emptier right now knowing that Tom Petty has died.

Rest in peace Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr.

The story on social media has changed. Now he's still alive and on life support. Or maybe OFF life support and alive?!

@PTRACER He was found in cardiac arrest, then put on life support, then the life was turned off.

RIP to a great great musician

Edit - in fact I've just some of the articles you're referring to Paul. Some mainstream outlets are retracting their earlier stories and saying they'll provide an update when they get further information.

RIP Tom Petty. Very sad day.

Little bit in denial about this. Was so set on going to one of his gigs in America next time they toured. The way his death has been reported has also really annoyed me + zero respect.

Sorry, Tom. It's just no longer possible. "They haven't had that spirit here since 1969.".

BBC 4 showed a gig of TP&THB's from the late 70's or early 80's on Tuesday night. Rang home and had it put on record, so I'm just chilling to that right now. This has really bummed me out.

I've never been this sad over a celebrities passing ever before. It was through Tom Petty I discovered music.

I feel similarly. You were the first person to introduce me to Tom Petty back in the days when we were on MSN together (I said "the NASCAR guy?")

I've had the Heartbreakers greatest hits in my car for a long time now, and it's always a good mood album.

The music taste I have now has been shaped by few influences, and among them were George Harrison and Tom Petty.

I'm going to wrap Jeff Lynne up in cotton wool for the foreseeable.

I remember that. Still not sure what you meant with "the NASCAR guy?" though! He's been such a huge influence on me. At least I got to see him live back in 2012.

Accidental drug overdose on meds for a fractured hip, knee problems and emphysema. What a shitter. Guess the emphysema diagnosis was enough to make him carry on through the pain, as who knows if they would tour again?

It's really easy to do that if you don't keep a medicine diary, a friend of mine nearly did it once and I've made myself ill by taking a double dose by mistake, if I ever had to take medication now I always write what and when I've taken on a calendar so I don't end up in the same boat.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

It is incredibly easy. I have one of those tablet cases with the days on it to ensure I only take my morning and evening.
