@Antonov Re the Hendrix reference, he was a major influence in all music during the Vietnam war, and very much (as most of the youth of the time) the whole Vietnam conflict.
Much of his (and others) music at the time was was anti Vietnam. (Country Joe and the Fish for instance)

He was actually signed up for the army as a punishment / community service type of deal, in lieu of jail time, but was quickly discharged for either 'not being focused enough to fight', / a broken leg he suffered, or being homosexual (take your pick).

I guess this is officially off topic but I feel rebellious.

Not Pseudo Hendrix music re Vietnam (A host of other titles such as All around the watch tower also qualify):

* I started life with nothing, and still have most of it left

“Good drivers have dead flies on the side windows!” (Walter Röhrl)

* I married Miss Right. Just didn't know her first name was Always

Final phase of the game, 7:25--->
The music is by Matt Gray, and is very good. All the tunes are in the same style as the LN2* music, except for the fact that in Tusker he used a different drum sound and a thicker guitar distortion.

There's a shitload of potential killer old-school Heavy Metal riffs and melodies in there, such as (stage 2):

Not at all hard to imagine how some of that could work that way.

I had the same thought about games like Road Rash, Jesper. Luckily people who can actually play guitar also had these thoughts

I think some videogames had definitely 8bit heavvy metal music as soundtrack
Then about 20 years ago i accidentaly put the f1 videogame cd into my stereo amd great instrumental guitar shred hm music got out. F1 1995 had a whole shred guitar soundtrack in it. Higly advised for the lovers of the genre (like me)

Gt5 was a terrible game. In the sense that the career gameplay was so lame because of terrible ai srivers (both aspec and bspec). It took ages to complete because races were so long. The challenges were, on the other hand, very interesting and the graphics and non racing part was great probably because of a soundtrack that included a lot of musical genres, a thing probably taken from gta where the soundtrack plays a big part in the game.
In bt5 there was some very cool smooth jazz that kept you relaxed during loading pages. Imo the best musician to provide original music was satsoshi bando.

This one by Martin Galway could have been by Jarre, Vangelis or Tangerine Dream.

Played the original Shadowgate on the Amiga way back when, didn't like it particularly, it was too much a matter of finding the right weapon to use against different foes, and putting items into or onto items, to open doors, but I just had to see what the 2014 remake was about, and it's astonishingly good. But like the Tolkien movies, it's too opulent, and leaves nothing to the imagination. It does however have the atmosphere that the original Shadowgate sadly lacked. There was this, tho, I suppose that's what's called an "Easter Egg". One of nine epic "hidden death" scenes in the game.

This one is the "music room death", where you bring on your own demise by performing a weird form of evil magic ostinato, using some of the game items. It's most hideously eerie.

But completely silly of course, as you cannot play all the instruments simultaneously, by yourself. But the people who made this version, hell, there's nothing they couldn't do, in this genre.

The last new (non-PC) genre in home computer gaming I enjoyed was the Freescape 3-D stuff for the C=64, and the programmers released a construction kit for innovative games such as "Castlemaster". I was surprised to see this, on youtube. Someone actually dabbling in that, almost a quarter of a century later... Movement slow, graphics shit, it was all about the gameplay, but the score is very good, indeed. Matt Gray wrote the atmospheric music for "Driller"

, and this is just as good, IMO.
