Awesome version. When I heard it for the first time some years ago, I had to look up the meaning. Don't care if it's a lady or a boat, the song is iconic. I've discovered it was originally by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Can't keep up with all these coversEverso Biggyballies wrote: ↑1 year ago Yeah I know we have all heard this song many times, but I happened to be watching a doco on Tina Turner which played this old B/W clip of it being performed in the days of Ike and Tina. A great live performance
Love the way it starts off slow, with Ike doing the deep Baritone backing.
But what I really enjoyed was watching the backing singers,( the Ikettes ) doing their thing. So early 70's. the minute mini skirts, The synchronisation of every. move, sheer energy.... especially when the pace gets a bit frantic towards the end. Jeez they earned their money!.
Click on full screen and enjoy.
I sort of feel like I have to explain myself, in these days when getting banned for mentioning controversial stuff is a thing. Last year I watched the movie "Battle of the Bulge". It contains the most famous rendition of "Panzerlied":
Bloody fantastic film that.
My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!
Your Danny, your John!
