Old aerial shots of circuits (incl. Silverstone, Brands...)

I guess this could have gone in the Motorsport Photos section, but this is really more about the circuit itself.

Here's an aerial view of the Silverstone circuit, taken sometime in 1949, just after it was announced they would be using the perimeter road as opposed to the runways in the middle.

Hmmmmm..... brilliant circuit in that configuration.... one of my favourites, and Woodcote pre the Scheckter chicane as I have said before was a definate 'testicle test'!

Thanks for posting Paul.

Great pic, which shows how pure the original circuit was. It has been progressively modified down the years, into the arguably unsatisfactory mish-mash we have today.

I guess I should have told you the source - it was the front picture on the cover of a Motorsport magazine from 1950

What about...Brands Hatch in the late-1940s?

Image

Or Crystal Palace before they added the link and shortened it?

Have an old shot of Snetterton before they were even thinking of racing there too. Would love to see others from around the world if they're available!

There are a lot more aerial views of many tracks, new and old, over at Guido de Carli's forum. These were the only I found relevant for this thread.

Excellent, although I was looking more for overhead shots that show the whole track layout. Great pictures though, keep them coming!
