According to this petition, the famous start/finish bit of the Targa Florio, the 'Floriopoli', is planned to be altered/demolished in order to make a new bypass.
That would mean a huge part of motorsport heritage could be lost if this goes through.

That's such an important part of the Florio's heritage, they need to make every effort to preserve it. It reminds me of the pits at Reims, there is no functional reason for them to be there at all, but I am sure it draws tourism to the area and it's wonderful to know someone is looking after it.
This is maybe not on the same scale, but the grandstands from the long-lost Tamagawa Speedway in Tokyo were finally torn down at the end of last year. I kept planning to go to visit the area but never got around to it, now I've missed my chance I suppose.
