Bottom post of the previous page:

Shame for Patrick Blakeney Edwards in his Frazer Nash in the Pre-war race., He is a super quick driver in whatever of his Frazer Nashes he drives was forced to stop on track with I believe a gear selector problem. Anyway, he was leading with ease having qualified 2 seconds a lap faster than 2nd place, but it all came to nothing.

1500cc Formula 1 cars (1961-1965) is the next category. Getting ready to go out now. I must say they are running today with little or no gaps between events which is great for those watching. Of course no spectators at the event due to Covid, but we are not the only people watching thats for sure. Always a popular event.

Certainly a weekend on the bucket list that I would love to go to, more so than the modern Monaco GP weekend.

Shame to see it so poorly supported this year though.

Yeah, it's on the list for me too... Whenever we'll do a southern France jaunt; do something like stay in Nice for a few weeks... Hang out for the historics for a couple of days... Then be touristy for a while, and then go back for the GP. Not sure if I'd bother with attending the race or not though, or just do the Friday or something. Problem with Monaco is the lack of vantage points for the GP. It's not like a lot of other street circuits where you can wander around a lot.

And having had grandstand seats previously, it's a bit dull to sit in one place all weekend. I know that some people swap tickets though between sessions... Maybe a FMB meet up for some year? ;)

3.0 litre race lead battle was absolutely bonkers. What a privilege it is to be able to watch these cars get raced like this.

Certainly was. Great dicing between poleman Stuart Hall in his BRM and Michael Lyons and his Surtees TS9. Lyons took the lead going up the hill after the start and the two diced furiously all race. Also a good battle for 3rd and 4th but that ended in tears on the last lap with 4th place being a bit hopeful going into the chicane out of the tunnel.

Cant wait for the next race now. Sportcars and two more F1 races to go. Wont be long. I think it is time for them to have a quick lunch break now.....

Looking forward to this next category about to start.... the 1973-76 era which is when my F1 journey as a fanboi really got underway.
Appropriately fighting for the Niki Lauda Trophy today. This race is a bit of a nostalgia trip for me.

Cant see the Arnoux car that was damaged yesterday in practice/qualy so I guess they couldnt repair it in time. They have let the Amon start rear of grid despite it not being able to qualify yesterday when it had problems that kept it in pitlane.

Interesting to see the at the time privately owned and entered Rondini Tyrrell in Gulf colours. Did not race too much (4 races in 1976). I think that is when Tyrrell were committed to the 6 wheeler and sold their Tyrrell 007s to private entrants, and this one was run by Scuderia Gulf Rondini for Alessandro Pesenti-Rossi

Alesi had a great start. I'm really enjoying this.

Me too... it is going to be interesting with the backmarkers. Would love to see Alesi win this one.
If only we had racing like this in modern F1.

Gulp! that was close.... Werner was alongside Alesi just about, but Alesi badly doesnt want Werner to pass. Almost half distance.

Reminds me of Mansell trying to pass Senna at Monaco all those years ago.
