Murray moments?

#1

Post by White six »

I thought when I had a spare life I might compile an affectionate list of Murray Walker moments on youtube. Hopefully the rights holders would look the other way, obviously it would all be stuff already on youtube or daily motion etc

Not necessarily blunders, but blunders are more than welcome

Suggestions?

Not sure how old you are, but this was one of my favourite VHS tapes when I was a kid  Full of Murray gold.

Looks great, but already realised I mainly mean blunders :haha: That looks far too high on the Mansell content for me too

Piquet had nipped off to tell everyone Senna was gay.... apparently started because he found out Senna had bonked his wife (before Piquet married her) :haha:

Yikes, that can certainly create a rivalry for life, and one that extends beyond racing performance!

No idea.... he had so many, and girlfriends whilst separated. I think one of his wives was an ex of De Angelis.
Just to keep things like Dad taught her, one of his daughters had a fling with Daniil Kvyat, and had a child with him before he saw the light and ran.

Ooof, a bit harsh. We've no idea what went on with kvyat and Kelly piquet. I doubt she needed the child tax credits ;)

Quite funny that Piquet Snr used the gay jibe as he thought it was most hurtful, and then got all upset about it when rumours went around that Piquet Jnr was enjoying some ahem male comfort.

Was it Flavio that started that one?

I seem to recall Flavio talking of Junior's 'Special friend'.... :dunno: May have been someone else.

IIRC Flavio said that he had made the comments about this 'friend' of Junior's at the request of Senior.
Didnt Jnr get in trouble in NASCAR for gay slurs on another driver, which he said was 'a joke with a friend'.

Mansell hardly features, it has a great sequence about Gilles Villeneuve though

Regarding Murray blunders, I think this is from one of the VHS tapes I had back in the UK, but I can't remember which.

If you can make a better version then go for it

More of a blunder than a moment, but the 1969 Italian GP last lap (the only bit left that the BBC has? I know the whole race from French TV is knocking around though) as the lead pack were coming down to the Parabolica - Murray corrected by the producer / floor manager in the commentary booth beside him:

"I decided i was going to go into it flat, so i did" Nigel Mansell, 1990 Mexican GP
