One of the most underrated drivers of the F1 history.

Piquet never seemed to be comfortable with F1. And, in an acidic and in-itself culture that is the culture of the Grand Prix, the answer to a negative stimulus is always forgetfulness - names like Tony Brooks and Jody Scheckter also are example of excellent aces who have left the sport and are ignored by the status quo of the category in awards and ceremonies.

Tbf I think he was always closer to the F1 establishment than it appeared, though not necessarily the english speaking media

Always had some supporters there too mind, who understood his mind games

Yes, it's hard to believe, but Brooks was the second most successful British driver during the 1950s, after Moss. He won twice as many races as Mike Hawthorn and from almost 20% fewer starts.

There are lots of drivers who I think deserve more attention and credit these days. Jacky Ickx and Richard Attwood are two of them.
