Well there weren't too many great races in 2003. I'm glad you loved them Paul. What 2003 offered was variety, something very different to the previous year.

Montoya was great. The last driver with a real personality. And one of the only drivers who wouldn't move out of the way of Michael Schumacher ;)

The last ten years have probably been the worst F1 has ever seen, but it hasn't all been bad. The real problem is we've been complaining about the same issues for the past 12 or so seasons now.

I stopped following motor racing in 2001, so seeing this topic in the Nostalgia section is... weird! :amazed:

What's "nostalgia" depends entirely how old you are  I'm just about old enough to remember Damon Hill winning the championship, and the start of the Schumacher/Hakkinen era. And I'm pushing 30 years old.

My first full season of F1 was 1994 (9 years old), and earliest memory of F1 was watching Mansell spinning off at Suzuka in 1991.

That said, I don't view anything after the early 80s (before I was born, I suppose) as being overly 'nostalgic'. Though, it's a bit depressing to think of races from the 90s being around 20 years old.

My first full season of f1 was 2000 (12 years old) and the first f1 race I watched was Belgium 1998. :)

I remember Mansell blowing his tyre at the Australian Grand Prix in 1986, so that might say something about nostalgia for me.

I don't agree that F1 is all drek recently. People have always said the same things about the excitement, it's just that the issues to complain about keep changing. What I like is that F1 is continually evolving, which it should. After all F1 is about the technology. If it was all about the driver then we'd be doing A1 Grand Prix.

If I have to pick one from the noughties, and it is a good list to pick from, I'd go 2012. It was a great season because it had close competition, multiple winners, a bevy of close races and went down to the wire in the championship.

I had that same feeling when Senna rammed Prost of the track in 1990 and Hill retiring in Adelaide 1994

The best season for me would probably be 2010 when 4 potential champions entered the last race. All the season was also very interesting in terms of the different drivers taking command in the standings just for Vettel to emerge with a perfect drive when it counted the most.

This is the first season in 20 years in which I still (September 21) can't tell who is going to be world champion.

2021 has to be up there, right? Maybe not the best way to end the championship in Abu Dhabi but...

2008, not because Lewis won the title, more the manner in which he won it. Plus, it was one of those titles nobody seemed to want to win, given how many times the top 4 in that years championship had the advantage then proceeded to lose it.

2010 and 2012 also.
