Bottom post of the previous page:

Ah. Is it an external drive or not? Did you attempt to use another program to copy the DVD? Eg DVD Decrypter (freeware) is able to circumvent copy protection/region issues and rip the DVD to your hard drive.

Alternatively, try this: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5607

it seems to be some sort of 'built-in-only-region-2' drive.
is DVD Decrypter safe? I may try it tonight.

Yes, DVD Decrypter is the default software to rip DVDs to your PC. Or just use one of the other million DVD ripping programs.

I'm always afraid there is some sort of system which alerts the owner when you rip it.

Wrapping the computer in aluminium foil may help.

this has been SOLVED

it was internal disk-player related (locked to region 2). Worked like a charm on another laptop (didn't even need the aluminium foil!)

____________

Other question: I have wifi at home, but the signal-strength upstairs (bedroom) is quite terrible.

Is there anything I can do (like a booster), so that the signal is (much) stronger?
Something which is not too difficult to configure either, given my limited abilities

Powerline plugs, or Netgear booster.

Europeans can't do Powerlines, they only have two prongs on their plug sockets.

I am searching for a (non-complicated) USB stick (+- 64 GB needed) which is password protected.
Basically for my sensitive files.

I have no experience in this field. Perhaps you can help?

Uhm, you can make your own passwords to any usb-stick. apparently the programm truecypt is very good for something like this. but at the end, i rarely do this. Another option would be, if you only want certain files or folders beeing secure with a password. You also can use 7-Zip.
WIP.

Shop for "Secure flash drives". They are password encrypted and if you try to tamper with them, the data gets scrambled. Even if someone took the drive apart, they will never get at the data. Some of them are very expensive though, so encrypting the files with a separate piece of software might be better.

thank you for your feedback @manny and @PTRACER .

Since that post, I bought a 'SanDisk' USB-stick. It comes with a password protected 'vault' basically. Very happy.

Is there any way to safely disable / enable a USB device via Windows instead of plugging the device out of the USB slot everytime? Certain non-racing game menus go crazy when my wheel is connected and the only way to stop it is to unplug the wheel while I'm playing those games.

I know you have the right click --> disable option in Windows Device Manager but is that safe? Is it as simple as just right click --> enable once I'm done or will it mess up the driver installation or worse?

Hooked up my Logitech G25 wheel again today and for some reason, all three pedals are showing fully pressed when they're not. It's fine otherwise but 0% press is 100% and vice versa. Any idea what I can do?
