I've brought the clock speed down to 2.99GHz. My computer isn't on top of the desk at the moment, it's down near the floor and it's all enclosed. Dust is getting into the intakes and blocking them up and it's causing my processor to overheat.

And I've taken it back up to 3.12GHz again. And I have a new monitor, keyboard and mouse so I'm about to update my first post!

Has no one else here got a computer, I'm not seeing many specs being posted.

I did a budget upgrade last month. I had a choise of completely new machine in a few months time or a cheaper upgrade as my old motherboard supports reasonably modern stuff and decided on the latter for the time being. The new system can wait for another year...

I'm a bit disappointed on the Radeon X1950's being unavailable. For the second time in a row I moved to nVidia at the last moment due to not being able to get the Radeon I wanted...

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
CPU Speed: 2.25GHz (slightly above standard)
---------------------------
Graphics Card: 256MB eVGA GeForce 7800GS
GPU Speed: Core 504 / Memory 721
---------------------------
RAM: 2x1GB Kingston in dual channel
Hard Drive: 250GB Seagate PATA + 160GB Seagate SATA
CD/DVD: 2x DVD RW by LG... Long story...
Motherboard: MSI K8T800 Pro
Sound Card: Integrated to motherboard
Power Supply: 500W Antec Phantom (hybrid)
Monitor: Viewsonic 17" TFT + Panasonic 17" CRT
Case: Inter-Tech Graystone
Cooling: 80mm fan on the front for intake and power's fan for exhaust.
Mouse/Keyboard: Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Desktop
Operating System: Windows XP SP2

(I like my cases very plain and traditional)

My former system was a few generations behind (parts from 2001 to 2003), so everything works in fast-forward now. I have yet to find something that will give it any real trouble, when at the same time the old one would have hit 100% usage in everything and the temperature would have gone up 10 degrees Celcius or so (the new one is always at 35-36 degrees Celcius and it's still hot outside for this time of the year). Maybe I should try pushing it harder. Nothing is overclocked by the way. I don't see myself overclocking it yet, maybe only after it has started showing its age. If I had to pick the best part in the configuration it would be the motherboard, even if it is the DDR2 version.

Other trivia:
I spread some newspapers on the floor and set it up there for its first test run because I didn't have the new case yet and I just couldn't wait. After the test was completed (successfully :haha: ), it got dismantled again and put in a cabinet to wait for its new home.

I also had to wait for about 2-3 weeks for the motherboard to come because the idiots at the store couldn't tell me when they expected a delivery. I even got a reply for about 80 pieces coming the next day and when I went to the store they said it was a mistake. I eventually decided to wait and put the whole thing aside for some days, but I have to admit that I was equally tempted to waltz in there, and give them death by 'multiple hits on the head with blunt instrument' (<<< that would be the PSU, nice and heavy, comes with cable handle for swinging blows  ).
