If you want to be a contributor, then please register an account and then let me know on this forum that you would like to share files. Then tomorrow when I wake up, I will give you the relevant permissions to upload files.

Becoming a contributor requires a valid email address and you need to activate your account via the link which is sent to you via email. Obviously this is to protect the security of my server.

I have uploaded a few things as an example.

That is true I will upload some bits and bobs there later.

Actually now GPLTD is back I have been able to extract the entire database to an Excel sheet. I think I could have the whole thing minus the files/prog covers uploaded tonight. If SRMZ goes again at least it'll all be there as a backup.

Even though the SRMZ is fortunately back, it has become abundantly clear that the need for back-ups places should SRMZ go down again are evermore important for people to find add-ons, patches, etc. for the game, so we should definitely do not leave it at that.

Thanks Yannick, totally agreed It's also difficult to access the content without an account, so hopefully my site will help some people in the future.

Anyway, I have succeeded in importing the entire Track Database now, minus the files/prog covers. I don't actually have many of the original installers on my PC anymore, so I'll upload what I have, but if anyone else can contribute a few files over time it would be helpful!

Nevermind, the GPL community needs a backup for its files. Best thing to do now is to grab everything we can of SRMZ and move it to several backup sites. As much as I appreciate Bill hosting all the sites, its a single point of failure that will lead to the loss of most files created for the game. Better to copy the files while we can and spread them around.

After I see your account there I'll give you Contributor access.

Registered, got the email, followed the link. I'll have a trawl through the HD over the weekend. Maybe add a subject line to the registration confirmation email, empty subject lines may fall foul of some SPAM filters.

Program covers are now uploaded for 608 out of 659 GPL tracks.



Their format on the gpltd server is as follows so it was very easy to download them all in one hit.

The 51 which are missing are not stored on the server, but are found in the track folder itself (E.g. C:\Sierra\gpl\tracks\stardust\stardust.jpg) so will have to be uploaded manually.

I also modified the page to be a little closer still to the original The-Fastlane.com site (did I mention this forum was named after that?) and you can now click on each author's name and see other tracks they made. Still need to add this feature to the other pages. Also need to reimport the authors' names as they are all wrong at the moment.
