Here is my synopsis:

Grown men, pro sportsmen at the top of their game, get thrown into turmoil by paddock whispers, the source of which is the antagonist.

Many incidents happy on track, and the way a proper F1 fan views this is totally different to how the characters and media on the game report it

Aiden is a whiny mummy's boy wet blouse, but that's because they're shoehorning a mental health lesson into it.

Casper is the grumpy old man who's going through a person crisis and has mid life/post F1 issues.

Devon is a pantomime villain, hardly a genius mastermind.

It spans 2 seasons, but you only play about 10 race scenarios, and about 4 full races.

Of course everything works out in the end.

There's a nice bit at the end however that I won't spoil.

That sound straight out of the Michel Vaillant/Roy of the Rovers school of cornball writing.

Can I least swap them out with real drivers? If I can't have Mick and Mazepin throw hands, they can't have my money.

I feel this is a step backwards (from what I've played so far - PS4 Pro).

- frame rate occaisionally drops
- the track surface seems bland and dark (more like a game vs. reality)
- the order of race tracks in the menu is completely wrong
- they've removed some short track configurations (Silverstone, Bahrain and Austine)
- classic cars are gone

I guess that in time these things will improve, but it is a sign of the times that more and more games are released as unfinished products.

I find that the cars often look like they're not actually on the surface, and it's visibly quite clear. It's not on every track, but they just don't look realistic.

I wondered at first if it was a shading thing, where the light textures on the vehicles are different to the track, and it's shadows causing it.

- Not really fussed about losing classic cars. Cars from 2000+ are not classics, but every year we get the same 2007 Ferrari, 2008 Mclaren, 2010 Red Bull etc. If they were offering more 80's content it'd be far more interesting to me.
- Short circuits are also not interesting for me.
- I look forward to Imola and Portimao being added.

Yes, always thought on replays especially the cars don't appear to be touching the track. I also want the whole thing to look more dirty, cars and tracks are only clean at the start of the race. And visibility doesn't just change between wet and dry conditions

Yes to 80's content. I'm sure a standalone 80s game could do very well. Adding imola could help them with that.

And yes, no way am I buying it until the tracks are added

Portimao has just been released.

Imola is due mid October, and Jeddah in mid November.

That's the best order of release for me - I'd never raced Portimao, I find Imola dull, and have no excitement for Jeddah, so all good!

Glad they did away with older cars. The game engine is designed for high-downforce modern cars with little chassis movement and older late 80s/90s cars just felt too rigid and easy-to-drive. Like they were 2020s cars with reduced grip and power values...which, not surprisingly, they are.

I already want Imola DLC, even though I don't care so much for the circuit.

Imola is included in Assetto Corsa, but honestly I don't think I have driven it more than a handful of times. Portimao is much better.

Also I wonder whether Jeddah will even happen in real life...

I'm not a massive fan of Portimao and the unsighted corner approaches. I've only done about 20 laps around it, so I know it now, but not the type of knowledge I have of the 1994-2010 circuits.

This is the first F1 game of the new series that I really want as well. Waiting to see if the price goes down

Did F1 2021 include Istanbul at release or is it part of yet to be released DLC?

It won't be included - the only DLC will be Portugal, San Marino and Shudder, sorry, Jeddah.
