Bottom post of the previous page:

I still got a flight in this evening.

#2 ; 28/03/20 ; Malmö (Sweden) - Liepaja (Latvia); 265 nm

Image
taking off from Sweden's Malmö airport, heading to the coastal Latvian airport of Liepaja

Image
heading east, and climbing towards cruising altitude, while the sun is setting fast

Image
looking to the north, with some traffic on the horizon

Image
night is falling as the sun has set

Image
cruising at 30,000 feet with traffic passing overhead

Image
about 40 minutes after taking off from Malmö, we are gently descending for landing at Liepaja airport

Image
darkness has fallen as I am on finals with the Antonov 124.

#3 ; 29/03/20 ; Liepaja (Latvia) - Moscow Vnukovo (Russia) ; 543 nm

Image
today's trajectory sees me flying from Liepaja's small international airport to Moscow.

Image
I needed all the thrust available for a timely rotation

Image
a bit bumpy climbing through a minor weather front, and heading east

Image
soon I found myself above the cloud cover

Image
the flight to Moscow was largely uneventful. As I descended, I passed the airport I've been to so many times - Moscow Sheremetyevo.
But this was not the airport I was heading for today. Instead, I turned to the right as I approached Vnukovo (a smaller airport, south-west of the city).

Image
some Moscow scenery popped up as I was lining up for landing.
you can see some of the typical skyscrapers as well as the Ostankino tv tower.

Image
touch down!

#4 ; 03/04/20 ; Moscow Vnukovo (Russia) - Ulyanovsk (Russia) ; 403 nm

Image
Evening flight from Moscow to Volga Dnepr's base in Ulyanovsk 'Vostochny Airport'. Lots of traffic on the tarmac, waiting to take a multitude of Russians to various destinations.

Image
Taxiing out among some 'exotic' plane models, including the odd-looking Antonov-72 with engines on top of the wings.

Image
Powering out of Vnukovo. Very peaceful weather conditions.

Image
Leveling out at 9,000 feet in the midst of some light cloud cover. Awaiting instructions from Moscow tower during an evening with lots of air traffic around the Russian capital.

Image
Well and truly at cruising altitutde with an Ilyushin-76 cargo plane passing overhead.

Image
On final approach to Ulyanovsk's Vostochny airport. Perspective from further back in the 'control room'.

Image
Taxiing to cargo ramp, next to a smaller sister from the Volga Dnepr company. A 'Cosmos' Tupolev-134 is in the foreground.

Image
Engines off, lowering ramp, and loading off cargo ; while taking on some new loads for tomorrow's flight to Orsk - right next to Kazakhstan's border.

#5 ; 04/04/20 ; Ulyanovsk (Russia) - Orsk (Russia) ; 407 nm

Image
Today's flight took my from Ulyanovsk's Vostochny airport to Orsk. Take-off from the vast runway and home base of my the airline company.

Image
Calm conditions in Ulyanovsk. Slightly hazy, but a nice early spring day with a (real world) temperature of 10°C.

Image
Heading eastwards, leaving the mighty river Volga behind me.

Image
Tupolev-134 passing 1,000 feet below me.

Image
Nearly full moon on the horizon & early spring: Easter is nearby.

Image
Descending into Orsk. This city is located some 100 miles south-east of the Ural mountain range (the supposed border between the European and Asian part of Russia).

Image
All my approaches in Russia have been visual approaches. Runway in sight and cleared to land.

Image
No issues upon landing. Just deploying the speed brake and thrust reversers.

Image
We are literally within walking distance of the Kazakh border. The landscape is also changing gradually into steppe as I'm flying further south.

Image
Unloading cargo from the back, with some typical Russian planes (Ilyushin, Tupolev) in the vicinity.

Up next is a flight to Baikonur in Kazakhstan, famous for its Cosmodrome.
This means the fifth different country on my journey, and the second continent: Asia.

Same here. bought a flight sim in 2005 or 2006 i think. Got bored of it very fast.

I had more interest in the taking off and landing, and seeing if I could fly under bridges that I saw. 99% of the time, no, I couldn't.

I'm probably on some kind of watch list for the amount of times I crashed passenger planes.

#6 ; 04/04/20 ; Orsk (Russia) - Zhezkazgan (Kazakhstan) ; 410 nm

Image
Today's late afternoon flight takes me from Orsk in Russia's Orenburg Oblast, to Kazakhstan's centre-most airport: Zhezkazgan.
Very overcast, but dry, as I'm backtracking for take off.

Image
Didn't take long to find myselfs in the grey clouds

Image
Crossing the land border between Russia and Kazakhstan

Image
I'm flying eastwards, translating itself in a rapid sunset - as I fly over the Kazakh steppes.

Image
The sublime moment between day and night, as I'm flying at cruising altitude (30,000 feet)

Image
It's almost dark as I'm descending for landing at Zhezkazgan. This city, with a population of 86,000 people, sees extreme temperatures - in summer a high of 43°C was recorded, and in winter a low of -41°C.

Image
No temperature issues (a pleasant 15°C) but a slight crosswind as I'm on final approach for landing.

Image
Just seconds prior to touch down.

#7 ; 05/04/20 ; Zhezkazgan (Kazakhstan) - Tashkent (Uzbekistan) ; 393 nm

Image
It's late morning when I continue my trip around the world. The landscape and surroundings are so desolate.

Image
Extreme turning required on a small surface, for departure heading south-west.

Image
Banking left as soon as I take off, for a flight towards the capital city of Uzbekistan: Tashkent.

Image
Cruising altitude as I find myself over the massive Kazakh steppes.

Image
Descending into Tashkent - this metropolis is Central-Asia's most important city, and used to be part of the legendary Silk Road.

Image
View from the flight deck with the runway in sight.

Image
Touch down in Tashkent International Airport Islom Karimov, with the Chatkal mountains in the background.
