John wrote: 4 years ago I really loved the way they built the enemies in this game, the Handymen, Zealots and Motorised Patriots are all awesome.

Comstock's patriots have a George Washington mask, while the ones used by the Vox Populi have an Abe Lincoln mask. Great detail.
I did not enjoy fighting any of those three. Maybe because they were so tough to kill and could do so much damage. And although Patriots were meant to be killed by shooting them in the back, actually getting behind them was a pain in the arse because they would always turn around.

I should have developed my Shock Jockey ability a little more than i did. By the final battle, it would only disable them for approx 3 seconds.
Combining two vigors is the way to go, Undertow + shock jockey would electrocute enemies as long as they were in contact with the water, and you could also blast them with your guns at the same time.

Damn it's time for another play through I think.
I don't think I ever used Undertow once, i just had to read what it was for

If I play again it will 100% be on 1999 mode.

But for now I'll be playing this:

unpopular opinion: Bioshock 1 was by far the best. The other two titles pale into insignificance.

(I haven't played the 'Burial at Sea' expansions. Should I?)

Nothing like it. Look on YouTube dude.

And yes, Bioshock 1 was the absolute best. Bioshock 3 was an amazing game but 1 was groundbreaking.

Played through all of the current three BioShocks a few months ago once lockdown/WFH got underway. Second time I'd played each game, with the first time being on launch.

BioShock 1 is definitely the best of the three. Really loved the story, and we all say the twist is obvious in hindsight but at the time it genuinely took me - and a lot of my friends - by surprise and felt particularly clever. I think it tailed off a little in the last portion once you take your new form, but overall it's ace. Very memorable, too. Spent most of the game remembering plenty of areas, enemies and set-pieces from my first playthrough back in 2007.

Being memorable definitely isn't something I can say about BioShock 2, though. Couldn't remember most of it, and in a way it's a reverse of the first game in that it starts, and spends most of its time, being pretty average before then getting quite good in the last few hours. It shares quite a few assets with the first so it does have a bit of a feel that it was quickly developed after the first game went down so well. By no means a bad game, but nowhere near as good as the first.

Infinite is an odd one. I actually really enjoyed the early 1900's timeframe for it, and thought Columbia was a nicely-realised setting too. Story wasn't that great, mind, and the ending just... yeah. Didn't like it too much at the time. But, the gunplay is as fun as the previous two and overall it's certainly a more fun and more memorable game than BioShock 2.

Roll on BioShock 4!
