Oh dear - how are those poor F1 drivers going to negotiate the first corner without the excess tarmac :sorrow: :amazed:

@Antonov Cool pic! I wish I could see the Spa GP in person one day. It's not very far from where I am, I once went to Belgium by car with friends. Although back then, as a re-enactor, I was more interested in the battlefield at Waterloo.

I still remember Mansell going out of the line to catch the pools of water after the rain, so that he would not need to change tyres. Sometimes in the late '80s...

Everybody, do you think the changes to the track are due to Anthoine Hubert's fatal accident at Raidillon? :sorrow:

Although I wasn't too keen, my girlfriend insisted on seeing the track.

I did manage to take a quite clear photo.

What is that, Les Combes?

And about Raidillon, it looks to me the same. I really don't see why they had to demolish the building at the top of the hill "to re-imagine the layout" :insulted:

Thats one of the hardest corners to get right in racing games/sims. Off camber, downhill, and slippery surface. It looks like a fast corner, but IT IS NOT!

From the video it appears both the new tracks layed down at Jacky Ickx are new lines. The old line is somewhere in between the Moto and GP track. Because the corner of the GP track looks much more open with a better camber than it used to.
Also I noticed the chicane at the top of the Kemmel Straight looks to be opened up as well (or maybe just the perspective of this camera).
EW red also appears to be about the same and I'm not really noticing any more run off on the left, but you can see it appears much wider up at Radillion on the right.

I dont think they changed the GP track. The distance to the barriers appears about the same in the old track. To me it looks like they just extended the straight into Puhon back to no name corner to allow for more space for the cyclists.

Jacky Ickx corner? Huh? Where is that? What is this nonsense with re-naming Spa corners? Who da hell calls Pouhon 'Double Gache'? Or Campus instead of Stavelot?

Is Eau Rouge really tighter? And where is all this extra gravel we were promised?

Better picture of what work was done on top of the hill at Eau Rouge / Raidillion. Looks like they took out a decent chunk of the embankment at the top. I reckon the old barriers used to be about a metre behind where the darker asphalt starts.
