The Mongol issue

The Mongols did not invade Italy during their European campaign.

Must be a while.... you have overlooked the Mongol status.

Mongols everywhere are feeling neglected

Just a reminder that in practice and qualifying they will be using the famous, even iconic Parabolica, but come the main race they will instead be using the Curva Alboreto. If you have no idea what I am talking about this explains.... viewtopic.php?p=411963#p411963

Oh that's a shame, I always like the name Parabolica. Cruva Alboreto just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I do generally like Monza as a circuit though, it often throws up a good race as memeory serves.

Reminder #2.... its Sprint format again. :tearful:

This weekend we have another one of those to me unnecessary Sprint qualifying races, with qualifying as such (the Q1,2&3 thing) on the Friday after a single practice session. We will then get more practice on Saturday followed by the Qualifying "Sprint" race to set the grid.

The Sprint thing did not work for me at Silverstone and dont see it making any difference this weekend either. I still dont see what it adds over the usual format and makes qualy itself superfluous.

The one thing I do remember is that everything was on at weird times and and aspects of qualy were on in the Euro evening, ie the early hours for us downunder. :annoyed: :aggro:

Oh dont forget that mucks up the GTP thing as well. Its no longer "Guess the pole" but guess the fastest Friday qualifier.

Dont forget to enter GTP if its your thing.... all the info here:. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=17282

Me too.... I just hope Kimi is back and fit to race again.... it would be a shame for him, given his status as the most recent Ferrari WDC, to miss out of his final race in front of the Tifosi at Monza.

He is also the 2nd highest Ferrari race starter for the Scuderia, with only 20 something less GP starts for them than Schumacher.

Agreed, it will be a shame if Kimi can't race there this weekend. Hopefully he'll be fit and well enough to do so.

Yea, not sure it is an issue of fitness. He sort of needs to isolate for two weeks. Pretty sure he will miss Monza, which is a shame.

I don't know what the covid rules are for F1. Here, if you are vaccinated (I assume Kimi is) and you pass a couple of tests that show you are clear of the virus, you're allowed to carry on as normal. It's hard enough to keep up with the covid regulations here they change so darn often, I can't keep up with the F1 regulations as well.

Oh, I forgot about the sprint thing, seems like a waste of time to me.

My pick for pole is already in though, and I've gone for a dry time this time

Well, I guess they'll just keep calling it Parabolica. It's a bit like at Spa, where people talk about Eau Rouge even though that's just the remains of the lefthander at the bottom of the hill, rest being Raidillon.
