It feels like at most other tracks they'd have probably risked it but Spa's recent history (some if it very very recent) of some nasty pileups and crashes (which took place even without inclement conditions) probably made the race organisers think twice. We're Going To Spa! 2021 Belgian GP

Don't forget that a lot of circuits run on volunteers. The marshal posts are mostly volunteers who have to work the next day.
But that's different logistics.

But that's just the same as giving the fat kid a trophy for finishing in last place.Circuitmaster wrote: ↑2 years agoThey're essentially giving points for qualifying, which I actually think is the fairest thing to do. Otherwise they all busted out that fantastic qualifying session risking their necks for nothing.PTRACER wrote: ↑2 years agoYeah and how many other global series moved their race to Monday?erwin greven wrote: ↑2 years agoSorry that is BS.
In 2005 the FIA was inept to solve a problem
Today they tried to race, but if the FIA thinks it is not safe enough, they won't start. Its very easy to sit behind your keyboard and point your finger to the FIA. But this is one of the fastest tracks on the calendar, and how many times the word "Eau Rouge" has been combined with "crash in..."???
I'm not questioning their decision whether or not to race today, the answer to that is obvious. But to award points and call it a race that someone "won" is a joke.
Half points, fair.
If points were meant to be awarded for qualifying then they would already be doing it. There were no green flag laps on Sunday and therefore it should be deemed a cancelled race worth nil point. It's quite strange that they could declare that an official race.

I agree with PTRACER, to even award any points for that race is just stupid, should of been moved to Monday or cancelled.

Norris got half a point for binning it.
Ocon got a point for being four seconds off the pace.

You're right, I'm not happy. The best track of the season, George Russell on the front row of the grid and all we get two laps behind the safety car
Given the conditions it was never going to happen was it? I understand why they tried in order to dry the track out and get some racing etc. but it wasn't to be sadly. Oh well, onward and upward to the race next weekend and let's hope for a dry race.
Edit: Just thought of something. When they talked to George Russell after the race he said 'I didn't expect to be on the podium this season'. Now was that a hint that he is in fact going to Mercedes next year? I don't know but it got me thinking at least.
Just so you know, I am a woman

I think there are a lot of things you can read into with George, like last race where he was asking the team to prioritise Latifi, which I said at the time sounded like a driver who knew points will come for him over and over again, but won't for somebody like Latifi...

He says nothing. Hypocrisy. They kept the people under the water and people on tv looking all those shitty commercials while they knew they would not race. F1 sucks nowdays

I finally feel good about not watching live races in recent years. I'm sorry for you guys that sat there for 4 hours. What a shemozzle. Russell getting a podium is about the only good thing you can mention about this.
