From 2023 onwards the Gulag GP will be held at a Tilkedrome outside St. Petersburg instead.

Progress!

The track (Sochi) is fun to drive on games, but the races it produces are lacklustre.

We still have to put up with Sochi for another two years is the bad news.

It's on... for the time being. Covid numbers are rising fast now that the Delta variant has definitely arrived.
Still months to go though.

Found some stuff on it.... not that exciting but maybe its the name Tilke as designer that makes it so.

This sounds like one of those "So, do you want to hear the good news or bad news first?" cases.

The St Pete track looks decidedly meh.

I have no doubts that Igora Drive will be meh, but it's replacing what is arguably one of the worst tracks in F1 history.

I'm looking forward to a new track to replace Sochi.

Whomever produced this video missed the mark by a wide margin!
It's easy. New Russian track? Film the video of the flyover, etc. Show the construction guys first with the track route at the end (opposite of what is in there). For the soundtrack there is only one choice: The Red Army Choir rousingly singing the Russian national anthem. Slowly fade in a transparent headshot of Putin (becoming less transparent as the fade in, but never reaching full solid). Bonus points if the headshot is a super slow-mo of Putin breaking into a smile or a laugh. Da!

I'm positive about this track. Weird exit of the pit lane though.

Tilke gets a lot of flack, but his hand are pretty much tied when it comes to track layout. This one looks surprisingly fluid! No wiggly bits is as much as one can hope these days, fast corners are a thing of the past, sadly.

What gives me hope is that the chicane comes after the hairpin (unlike USA and Abu Dhabi). So at least he learnt him something after those tracks.
