Alpine boss Laurent Rossi has clarified there are no exit clauses within Esteban Ocon’s new three-year Formula 1 contract that would allow Mercedes to sign him and pull him out of Alpine to drive for Mercedes. Not until after end 2024 when his Alpine contract expires.
I think this is pretty significant. Thanks.

Quote from Toto: "He drove a great race (last weekend) but that will not change the decision," Wolff insists. "He is history."

The part in italics is my own invention. The actual quote was:

"He drove a great race (last weekend) but that will not change the decision," Wolff insists. "We will look at that in the next few weeks and months."

Well, I think we have for 2022:

Pretty much all confirmed (except Russell/Bottas):
Mercedes: Hamilton (2 year contract), Russell ?
Red Bull: Verstappen (under contract), Perez (they said he is staying)
Ferrari: LeClerc (under contract), Sainz (under contract)
McLaren: Norris (under contract), Ricciardo (under contract)
Alpine: Alonso (under contract), Ocon (three year contract)
Aston Martin: Vettel (under contract), Stroll (for life)
Alpha Tauro: Gasly (under contract), Tsunoda (under contract)

Up in the air:
Alfa/Sauber: Giovinazzi, Raikkonnen? or Schumacher?
Williams: Bottas ?, Latifi
Haas: Schumacher?, Mazepin?

Drivers who may be left without a ride: Bottas

New drivers coming in: Maybe with Williams or Haas, depending on what they do with their underperforming pay drivers.

Well, rumors still favor Russell to Mercedes and Perez staying at Red Bull. I think these are done deals. Haas announced this weekend that Mazepin Sr. is not taking over the team, but both drivers are staying for next year. Apparently Sauber has the freedom to choose their drivers next year. Do they keep either of their drivers? Anyhow, it looks like 8 of the 10 teams are set.

Pretty much all confirmed (except Russell/Bottas):
Mercedes: Hamilton (2 year contract), Russell (strongly rumored)
Red Bull: Verstappen (under contract), Perez (they said he is staying)
Ferrari: LeClerc (under contract), Sainz (under contract)
McLaren: Norris (under contract), Ricciardo (under contract)
Alpine: Alonso (under contract), Ocon (three year contract)
Aston Martin: Vettel (under contract), Stroll (for life)
Alpha Tauro: Gasly (under contract), Tsunoda (under contract)
Haas: Schumacher (Guenther says), Mazepin (signed according to Guenther)

Up in the air:
Alfa/Sauber: Giovinazzi?, Raikkonen? or Callum Ilott ?
Williams: Bottas ? or Hulkenberg?, Latifi

Drivers who may be left without a ride: Bottas

New drivers coming in: Maybe at Sauber and Williams depending on what they do with their underperforming drivers.

Alfa Romeo doesn't rule out changes:

Have to say Bottas might be a logical choice to end up here?

Bottas in Alfa Romeo link for 2022, if Mercedes opts for Russell

If Mercedes does opt for Russell, then Bottas has been clear that he wants to remain in F1 rather than go and race in another category.

There has been speculation that he would return to the Williams team, as replacement for Russell....

However, high level sources have revealed that he is a key target of the Alfa Romeo team, which is looking increasingly unlikely to retain Kimi beyond the end of this season.

Bottas would bring the team speed and experience, plus a decent profile as a multiple grand prix winner.

While it is understood that serious talks regarding a possible deal have not begun, it is believed there has been brief contact regarding Bottas’ potential availability for 2022.

Bottas clearly fancies his chances of retaining his Merc seat..... we know Lewis would rather have Bottas over an eager talented charger like Russell. Depends really on whether Lewis or Toto pulls the strings at Mercedes.

Toto has indicated no decision has been made yet, but likely that will haen over the summer break, but that wont neccessarily be when it is made public.

Alfa are not in a hurry to tie anything up either and are happy to wait until RBR and Merc lay their cards as to who their respective #2's will be..

In other news.....

Haas team boss Gunther Steiner expects Mick Schumacher to pen a new contract for 2022 soon, saying there just "need to be a few t's crossed and a few i's dotted." It is a bit more complex with Jnr, as he also has a Ferrari academy contract. Ferrari ultimately control Mick's future although apparently their new deal with Alfa / Sauber does not include control of a seat at Alfa any more. ie Gio's future is down to Sauber / Vasseur with no mandate from Ferrari as to who is driving for the team formerly known as Sauber...

Haas is happy for both drivers to continue in 2022..... Mazepin is already signed up, with team principal Steiner confirming "everything is signed there, everything's fine."

If necessary Bottas says he would look outside of F1.....

Valtteri Bottas has admitted that he won’t rule anything out should he lose his drive with Mercedes.

That includes looking to spearhead the rebuild of another team, (see re Alfa above, or as also mentioned Williams) or even leaving Formula 1 in favour of something altogether different. Bottas admitted that he’d not rule out a move outside of F1, even if his preference and priority was to remain on the grid for 2022.

As mentioned above, talks and a decision surrounding his future with Mercedes are set to be held over the summer break, which begins after next weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

He reckons he has a few good years left in him. Im not so sure. He is to me very non mainstream as in top choice. He is no Lando or George in terms of up and coming talent, and he certainly is no Lewis Max Charles or even a Carlos.

Tbf to bottas he could probably be winning titles elsewhere. He should quit and go and do it. I suppose if Alfa offer him Kim's wage he'll take it though

Sure... But why would they offer him big money?

He's not a bad driver by any means, but he's not lightning fast and never was. And he's not exactly marketable.

Weren't they relaunching Mr potato head? Deal to be done with Mattel.

He'll be quicker than Kimi tbf. They need experience, and who else is there?
