Yeah I heard about that after I posted. Not heard any word yet, but it doesnt sound too good for his points prospects. :tearful:

Oh well, that won't end well.

There's a really evil suggestion that Max did the same to Charlie, another Hamilton win ;)

You could say it was similar to vettel hammy in Canada, Charlie was very polite to let max keep the position

As much as Perez had a nightmare afternoon, red bull are bloody dozy. If they'd told him to give the positions back I'm sure there would have been no penalty

Ted Kravitz was suggesting that Alfa may get away with it because apparently the FIA had placed Kimi in the wrong position anyway at the restart. To be honest I couldnt quite understand the argument he was putting up, but it seems not as cut and dry a penalty as it appears

I'll have to watch channel 4 now to try to make sense of it all

So he didn't spin? Just made up places that he should have had?

Kimi got a 30 second penalty, looses his points. That means Alonso gets 1 point.

Bwoah.

That's a real shame. But I don't understand the consistency here. If Perez got 10 seconds added to his time, then so should Kimi.

Also, I can't understand how the drivers (and teams!) are forgetting this basic rule. It's a safety car, not a formation lap.

Stroll gets 5-second time penalty for off-track pass on Gasly. And that drops him behind Gasly from P7 to P8

Some podium trivia.

With Lando Norris third for McLaren behind fellow Brit Hamilton today, it makes 700 podium finishes for British drivers in F1 since the World Championship started in1950. (Reg Parnell was the first British podium getter with a 3rd place at the 1950 British GP driving his works Alfa 158.

It was also the first race with 2 British drivers on the podium since China 2012 when Hamilton and Jenson Button were both on the podium..

I think the first time we ever had more than one British driver on the podium was the British GP 1957 at Aintree. However that day there were three Brits on the podium..... Moss, Brooks and Hawthorn. (Moss and Brooks shared the winning car and were both credited with the win, Hawthorn came 3rd.) Incidentally that day was also the first race win for a British car, the Vanwall.

Edit: I got that one wrong.... the first time we had more than one Brit on the podium was actually Italy in 1956, when we again had 3 Brits on the podium. Moss won the race, Peter Collins came 2nd (sharing the car with Fangio) and Ron Flockhart came 3rd.

Germany 2019 called just now to remind us that this isn't always true.

Plus I seem to remember similar things happen quite a few times to other drivers. I lost count of how many times we had drivers in the lead on pitstops (they were running a long stint) and then either the VSC or Redflag allows them to change tires without losing a place and they keep the lead, Today was just a bit more extreme (at least he was down in 9th) followed by some good driving to get back to 2nd.

Where is the consistency in thatStroll gets 5 seconds, Perez gets 10 and Kimi gets 30.
