Red Bull have today listed just about every other team also has bendy bits on their rear wing. Ferrari Alpine and I think Sauber Alfa have all said they will have to redesign and remanufacture parts in time for the new tests to be introduced. (Teams have until after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to make any changes to their cars before the new tests come into effect.) I presume Alpha Tauri, given their RB connection are also up for changes.
It seems there are two teams only who want the rules changed and tests revamped with immediate effect and that is McLaren and MB.

This article explains the rear wing argument going on from the mouth of Christian Horner.... https://www.speedcafe.com/2021/05/21/re ... wings-row/

Well, I gather Mercedes Benz is going to protest the Red Bull wing at Azerbaijan.

This habit of FiA changing nilly villy specs, or making new ones in the middle of a season has to stop. It is going on far too long. Unless there is well defined breach of existing regulations, I would like to see FiA to stay still. With respect to RBR's case, if they violated rules, punish them, otherwise hands off for the season. If FiA has to get involved for some inexplicable reasons, then do it for next season.
One team calls it innovation which might squash rivals, while rivals screaming murder, save us from defeat...fun never ends.

Mercedes: DAS breaks no rules, it's going around rules, isn't it clever?!?!
Red Bull: Bendy wings are passing the tests, so what's the issue?
Merc: They're cheating, how dare they innovate, we want competition, but only if we can beat them!

I was going to post with exactly the same DAS scenario.... that was deemed outside the spirit yet allowed to run for the balance of last season. Yet Mercedes in the Bendy wings things, despite introduction of new tests at a time to allow new parts to be created, (ie after the next race,) want to protest before / during the race. The hypocrisy of it is bizarre. :insulted: :annoyed:

I am sorry, but the DAS was really not an moveable aerodynamic device. It was challenged by Red Bull on that basis and was rejected. On the other hand, the Bendy Wing clearly is.

As the Bendy Wing clearly violates the rules and can be shown to have violated rules, then one can make the argument that all of Red Bull’s results for the season should be thrown out. I kind of think FIA was being pretty generous to give them until after Azerbaijan to correct it.

Hmmm the way that reads is that its another area where Red Bull are bending the rules..... it does not mention them by name, but they have the 6 fastest stops on record, and are the only team to have dipped below 2 seconds, something they have managed a few times.

Just to stir the pot, Mercedes dont appear in the top 10 stops. :suspicious:

I wouldn't mind pitstops getting longer. That way you'd couldn't just tuck into the pits at the tiniest gap, even a wider spread in stoppage time would too the trick. But leave it up to the FIA to overcomplicate things, limit the pitcrew to 6 people and you have the same effect without having to police every pitstop.

F1's so concerned about tradition, they should go back to the original rule: only occupants of the car are allowed to touch it during the race!

Imagine Lewis et al jumping out of the car during pit stops, jacking up the car all by themselves and grabbing the hand gun... I bet that would stop this pit stop nonsense once and for all! :twothumbs:
