I guess he will only drive in the road track events, with the team putting another driver in for ovals. Pretty sure it has been done before.
Obviously it would make his championship hopes diluted but I guess the team can still get team points/money etc. Im sure someone here knows far more about the intricacies of the Indycar rules and habits than I and will give a more factual based answer. :whistling: .

Mike Conway ran a road course only schedule before after getting seriously injured on ovals. Max Chilton does something similar, but has run the Indy 500 as well.

Grosjean won't win the overall championship, but his team can still do well in owner points. There really isn't a separate championship for road courses. Dale Coyne Racing likely won't win any kind of championship though because it isn't top tier.

Ed Carpenter's car is also split between ovals and RCs. Ed takes the ovals, and the likes of Daly, Jones and King have taken the twisty bits.

Taking the twisty bits sounds decidedly uncomfortable. Just sayin....

There's a reason why no one lasts long in that car.

He's driving the 2019 car, which as it stands so far was the fastest car ever around many of our F1 tracks. (The 2019 poles are still standing records on most of the tracks).
So that will be a great treat for him. I wonder how he will stack up? Faster than Bottas at least?

Would be great. Rumors are that Bottas might not make the end of the season. A lot of people are not pleased with his lack of race craft.

RBR for sure! :haha:

But within the Mercedes team they aren't. Starting on pole and being run over by Lewis and Max... And at Imola it was a complete disaster.
They fear that when Perez is on pace, Sergio and Max will take a lot of points away from Bottas.

He won't go mid season. He might go at the end of the year, but he's going nowhere until then.

Yep, no chance. Wolff loves him trailing round nowhere near Hamilton
