Bottom post of the previous page:

Not sure about the source credibility (formula1news.co.uk), but February is likely to see the announcement of 3 cancellations: Monaco, Azerbaijan and Canberra.

I'd have bet they aren't happening regardless of this source.

Expecting an 18 race season.

Add China to that list.

Australia is supposed to be postponed, not cancelled.

Let's face it. This season is going to be as messed up as last season. The only thing that this season has going for it is that we have a system in place to get some races run.

Canberra?
Presume you mean Canada. I know Canada have just 'done an Aus' and closed their borders to 'furreners' to get control of Covid..
Interesting that will make (with Albert Park) 4 street circuits the first 4 cancellations made if true.

If true it is of no surprise to me and will be followed by further bail outs.

I cant see it happening. I would not be putting money on it being run at all this year, and the revised date is more bluff for Liberty investors than reality.

We wont have had a full vaccine roll out for all our residents by then from what I hear, and after the tennis fiasco I dont think any major events involving primarily overseas people are going to happen, certainly not with any public support.

As time moves on, we might see the total cancellation of the calendar again.

Everybody seems to be so 'assured' that F1 will start in Bahrain at the end of March.

I'm not so sure, with the more contagious variant spreading; and as this is the dominant strain in GB, it might pose additional challenges for the majority of F1 teams (outbound travel I mean).

I would be willing to bet that every F1 employee from GB teams that wants a vaccine will have been vaccinated by the end of May.

yes, but there is an issue still - science does not yet know if being vaccinated prevents you from spreading it.

then have it on one of Australia's minor tracks - say, Bathurst or so.
Minor? Bathurst?? Minor??? :amazed:
For @Antonov's benefit Bathurst is by far the most historically famous track in Australia..... Albert Park would probably even be behind Phillip Is;and which as I mentioned held the first AGP back in 1929, and has held the Motorcycle GP annually since the 1990s. Albert Park prior to the recent AGP was only used for a few 'one off races in the fifties for instance to promote the Melbourne Olympics etc. Bathurst also held many AGP's back in the non World Championship days.
Not suitable now for F1 though. What about Phillip Island?
Dont think PI has an FIA grade 1 license needed for F1. (There are only 43 world wide, and Albert Park is the only one is Aus.)

In fact I think PI is only Grade 3 for cars. Sandown is only Grade 3 (ie for "Category II Automobiles with a weight/power ratio of between 2 and 3 kg/hp.)
I guess PI would have Grade 1 certification for Motor Cycle Racing on the basis of the MotoGP Aus round is held there.

I think the only Grade 2 circuit in Aus is the Bend. (Maybe the Gold Coast as a hangover from the CART days I dont know.)
Oh, forgot Sydney Motorsports Park (aka Eastern Creek.) That is Grade 2)
Why doesn't F1 stick to their Tilke circuits, and stops buggering up any decent circuit they can get hold of? There's no way they are going to deface Bathurst, of course, but F1 has ruined many otherwise (half) decent tracks over the years. Actually, anything that's older than thirty years now.

Luckily they didn't get their hands on Brands Hatch or Donington. Both tried to get the British Grand Prix in the last 20 years or so

Agreed.

Ok, Donington could use a sort of facelift, but keep your filthy hands of the track it self.

Both Brands and Donnington are only Grade 2 circuits so not permitted to run F1 at present

Monaco Grand Prix organisers insist its Formula 1, Formula E and Historic GP events are all going ahead as planned, despite ongoing concerns over COVID-19 restrictions.

Statements like that usually means it is about to be canned! :dunno:

It's not because it's a street circuit that it can't be hosted though.
While Covid certainly remains a major problem, the race last year was canned because we didn't understand what was going on.
F1 has meanwhile risen to the occasion, and has found ways to minimise the risks.

Possible if sports are prioritised after the at risk groups, but will still leave many in F1 waiting for the vaccine
The board equivalent of the Jody scheckter chicane. Fast but pointless
