What will Sebastian call his car this year?

Sebastian Vettel has become known for his off-track actions in recent years, including his tradition of naming each one of his cars.

Since his first full-time season in F1 in 2008, he has chosen a different name for every car he has driven. There were an assortment of names during his Red Bull days, ranging from Luscious Liz to Kate and Kate's Dirty Sister.

When Vettel moved to Ferrari in 2015, the choices tended to reflect the team's Italian roots, with the first being Eva. Margherita, Gina and Lucilla were amongst those to follow.

When he made the switch to the newly-named Aston Martin outfit. In keeping with AM's links to the James Bond franchise, the driver named his car Honey Ryder, a nod to the Bond girl played by Ursula Andress in the 1962 film Dr. No.

The question remains over what he will choose to call the AMR22. Apparently his engineers have a say in what it will be and he decides with them what it is to be.....

Vettel's past F1 car names

Year Team Name
2008 Toro Rosso Julie
2009 Red Bull Kate / Kate's Dirty Sister
2010 Red Bull Luscious Liz / Randy Mandy
2011 Red Bull Kinky Kylie
2012 Red Bull Abbey
2013 Red Bull Hungry Heidi
2014 Red Bull Suzie
2015 Ferrari Eva
2016 Ferrari Margherita
2017 Ferrari Gina
2018 Ferrari Loria
2019 Ferrari Lina
2020 Ferrari Lucilla
2021 Aston Martin Honey Ryder
2022 Aston Martin ????

My outside vote.... continuing with the Bond / AM theme how about Pussy Galore?
Or Domino from Thunderball?

I'm going to vote for Shirley Bassey. I don't know why, I just think that is what he'll choose ;)

Sebastian actually outlined his personal criteria for staying in the F1. Footing of future decisions contain two pillars:

1. Suitable offer from AM for continuation with him.
2. His personal evaluation of the new car and team's future.

I don't doubt for a second if AM moves up the grid in some dramatic fashion, and even if Seb will punch above his weight class with it, Stroll will drop him, should there be new interest from some British drivers. He will get that way more exposure in Daily Mail and similar papers. One can conclude, Seb's future in the F1 is most likely short lived. Either he quits because he gets fed-up, or he will be replaced, if the car is competitive.
Perhaps that's the reason why he is (not so secretly) examining other opportunities.

Much influence of Whitmarsh on the team

Aston Martin's goal is to be able to compete for the title within five years and Whitmarsh is a key link in achieving that goal. Officially, he heads up the overarching Aston Martin Performance Technologies, but the Whitmarsh will put a lot of time and energy into the Formula One team and thus have a lot of influence on whether or not the team succeeds in the coming years.
Well, it didn't take long. Mr. Krack is probably scratching his head, but what is done is done. My gut feeling is telling me, that Seidl is in similar situation. On the outside we will know who will collect accolades if teams will do well, and who will be a fall guy if the team goes down.

Sebastian Vettel is yet to decide on a name for this year's Aston Martin F1 car as he wants to “wait for a bit more pace” before christening it

After missing the first two races with Covid, Sebhas returned to the cockpit for round three in Aus this weekend, but confirmed he has broken tradition by not yet picking a name for his car.

“No, we’ll wait for a bit more pace, and then think of a name,” Vettel said.

“Maybe we’ll take a little bit more time than usual.”

If it carries on as it has maybe slug? Nah its bound to be something pleasant

There's Alotta names to choose from.

I haven't watched Austin Power so I have no idea if he drove Aston Martin? It looks like Seb will stick to James Bond girls' names if Honey Ryder is the clue (she was the first, and From Russia With Love it was Tatyana Romanova but probably not the best of time to choose a Russian name right now). Pussy Galore was in the third movie so we can skip to that

Headlines sending Vettel off to retirement. In one of the fan-responding section I've found something worth re-printing. A Brazilian responding to the "news":
By Sergio Vauduro:
Even though I'm Ayrton's fellow countryman, for me Vettel is the biggest phenomenon I've seen appear in Formula 1 since I've been following the competition since 1970 and I'm sure his potential remains at a high level, and I had the pleasure of having this opinion partially shared by a recent poll on Formula1News.UK at the end of 2020, when more than half of his readers voted him the best of his generation.
His unexpectedly negative performances in 2014 and 2020 were directly related to commercial matters rather than his ability as a pilot.
His young age suggests that he could stay in the category for longer, but his problem is that he is not linked to any manager, and that makes the doors open more for drivers with this type of advice.
In light of these aspects, there is an inconsistency in the argumentation of the text about him being replaced by a pilot 6 years older, whose last victory will turn 9 years old soon, on May 12, but who works hard behind the scenes to stay in evidence, besides that it would be unwise for him to transfer to a team with worse structure and management than the one he is in today.
Sorry for the text, I used Google Translate.
Thank you Sergio.

Let's leave James Bond and his fictional performances just that, fictional. AMR22 is apparently not the only slow thing AM produced. Feedback from drivers during safety periods were rather specific.

Apparently, it's been announced that Sebastian Vettel will be on BBC's Question Time on Thursday 12th may.

Now I am surprised by that as it's a political show. It will make for some interesting viewing. I don't usually watch it, but I will be watching this episode. Is this the way Seb's future is going to go? Is he going to be a policitian when his F1 career is over?

That's interesting. We saw him picking up litter after a Grand Prix last year, but I always considered Lewis to be more the activist type. It seems Seb is actually doing something more than just posing in magazines in gold jewellery and underwear unlike the other person I mentioned.

After more than a decade of following his adventure in the F1, I think the manner Vettel projects himself today in public, he was always that way. Sure, he went through some stages of maturing mentally (as most of us do), but my feeling is, that he never was a rascal media made of him when he was teamed up with Webber. That guy played his game, and politics of nationalism is hardly clean subject, that much was understood.

He's definitely going into some form of politics.

Though I'd think his value to the F1 broadcasters will be huge . Hope the UK gets him before the jormans
