Bottom post of the previous page:

Isnt it strange how sometimes certain things 'accidentally' get leaked. This to me is a case of one of those times.
Why, out of a calendar that has not even been provisionally issued yet, does the most overhyped new event in my memory suddenly have its date and position in the calendar get out into the media.

Image

Las Vegas GP date leaked, F1 race could be paired with Abu Dhabi for a season ending back to back.

The inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix night race has a preliminary race date of 16-18 November next year that could form a glitzy season-ending back-to-back with Abu Dhabi.

A letter has been leaked that has the planned inaugural race date next year of 18 November, a week before America’s Thanksgiving weekend, and that the contract runs through to 2027.

That opens the door to it being a regular penultimate round of the season, with F1 wishing to end its schedule on the final weekend of November in Abu Dhabi. So a back to back season finale.

The letter commits to keeping this same weekend slot for the five-year duration, and the schedule for the night race will be planned so that track activity will end no later than 1:30am local time each day.

The document also lays out the commercial terms of the event, as well as the groundwork for the temporary street circuit’s construction and maintenance. It includes guidelines for a requirement of 900 marshals, 1200 fire extinguishers, 15 cranes and 18 ambulances and tow trucks.

It does not mention anything about the fact that Liberty is self promoting the event, or that the plans for the permanent pit and race control facility, which we know vaguely will be built on a plot of nearby land in central Vegas purchased by a Liberty subsidiary for $240 million earlier this year.

So we know the dates of the final two races of the calendar (for several years to come) but still dont have any news on more important events like Monaco, Spa, and others. :nah: :annoyed:

The sport came long way from "comfortable" 18 races per a season and not too much of travelling, to suggested 24 next year, and a lot of travelling. Well, I travel too on long hauls here and there, and I need a plane for it, but F1 with all that equipment is totally in a different league.

In footsteps of Greta (Vettel?):

Todd was born in London. The pilot with good money quit his job. citing health and environmental concerns.
As Todd continued to walk his own walk away from the job that had been his whole identity, he felt a sense of "responsibility and morality" that meant he couldn't return to living the way he had before. He joined the Extinction Rebellion protest movement, for whom he is now a spokesperson, and started "taking climate activism really seriously."

He learned that the industry is responsible for more than 2% of global emissions and that of the 80% of people who have never been on a plane, many are disproportionately affected by climate change."I was struck by the injustice of it all. Especially since half of those emissions are generated by 1% of the population," he said.

Even Caesar's Palace looks like a great circuit compared to this.

Oh, come on!!! Monaco is and always has been dreadful, and what I've seen of Spa in recent years it's a vast sea of tarmac with lines on it, in fact I've already decided to skip the race it looks so unpromising. ANY new track will be better than those two!

Spa has added gravel traps since last year.

So you must enjoyed Sochi, Jedda and Miami.

Monaco is the track i only had to skip once. I love the track. And i don't give a F*ck that it is a boring race. And Spa? Spa is AWESOME. Wait until this seasons F1 will run that track. It will be boring. Yes, but i love the track as an endurance fan. GT's work tremendously well. Just like the LMP's and LMH cars.

I watch racing in a much different way than most of the fans.

Never seen Sochi, Valencia or Singapore, but Miami was pretty good as far as street circuits go, certainly many times better than Monaco. Had a lot of those early Long Beach vibes. Jeddah mainly suffered from being a featureless night race, but the track didn't look too bad, either. I don't get what people rave about with Spa, it's just a terrible circuit with all that tarmac off track.

And that is your problem: You don't watch the races. Spa has changed a LOT. Way less tarmac, way more gravel traps.

Albert Park confirmed for April 2nd.

We may not even have a provisional calendar as yet but we can lock away the AGP as being round #3 to be held on April 2nd 2023
Andrew Westacott, AGP Corp CEO, confirmed the news, which has been published on the event’s website today.

He actually did go on to say that “The 2023 Formula 1 calendar is close to being finalised in totality,” There’s no doubt, however, there’s still some moving parts..... I know there were issues with whether Kyalami would be able to go ahead due to some last minute financial hiccups, but it seems word will be soon.

One down another 23 to go

24 races next year?
25 a year after...and so on.

Hard to tell if 35 races per season will make Liberty happy. Not that it matters to anyone but me, but I was already happy with 16 (Ok 18) races.

Hopefully China wont happen. So 23 is the prediction. As it has been for a while now. It is still up in the air, leaked or not, until the WMSC meets to discuss and confirm it which is not set until early October. Its their call and any leak until they have met is irrelevant speculation.
