Since some prick has decided to spam the shit out of the CPdB Registration process causing hundreds of accounts to be created in one day, I have disabled registration until further notice. Well done, my friend

I was wondering...
What if someone hacks ourout database and deletes all the images/entries/etc?
You never know...

Thinking about this... isn't that what we wanted?
Well I didn't imagine it was real people, I thought it was all spam bots. Anyway, the server can't handle that many registrations all in one go I don't think, almost all registration emails were bouncing back with "Email address can't be reached"

I understand.
What should we do?
Not sure, I disabled registration for the time being. We have lots of 'real' spam accounts joining us now - people who probably don't intend to use the forum, who think it'll get them access to the CPdB (it won't! ).
(Or perhaps I should just allow 'free' access to the CPdB again )

That's a good thing.

Oh, well, that's sad. I had been using the database last year, then found out about it again. The news of the registrations being disabled was a surprise. I assume there is no current plans of allowing it back, due to server stress?

As suggested above, I may just make the database completely public shortly - no user accounts required. The email server can't handle the number of registrations we're having. Does anyone disagree?
EDIT: Furthermore, the Crash Photos section is also available to all and it has considerably more photos than our database right now: viewforum.php?f=26

I liked your initial idea behind the login-necessity.
But judging by the many registrations over the last 24/48 hours, I'm assuming we're gonna end up with a large number of "dead" accounts that solely follow the purpose of leeching photos without contributing anything to the forum.
