The biggest wreck of the '92 Goody's 300 occurred when Joe Nemechek (#87) made contact with another car and spun out between Turns 1 and 2, setting off a 10-car pileup. Nemechek slammed rear-first into the outside wall, rupturing the fuel tank and sending his car down the banking in a spectacular fireball. Nemechek was rushed to the infield care center and treated for minor burns to his shoulders and backside.
