1960  » Buenos Aires 1000km

On the first lap of the race, Harry Blanchard's Porsche 718 RSK hit the sister car driven by Heini Walter at the entrance of the Autódromo Municipal. Blanchard's car subsequently rolled, fatally injuring him, while Walter escaped unhurt. Blanchard had been thrown out of the cockpit, his body was lying on a sidewalk along the Avenida General Paz, just in front of the wrecked car. He was immediately taken by rescuers to the Hospital Penna at Buenos Aires, where he was declared dead on arrival.
