Still using the same system, currently running stable for 1 hour in OCCT stress test tool at 3.24GHz. FSB is currently set at 270MHz. I have managed to overclock the CPU by a whole 35% on air! Next step would be to try and take it to 275MHz, which would increase it to 3.3GHz, which would be a 37.5% overclock.

My latest machine, obviously put this here because I want to remember what I had now, in a few years time. Bought the new bits last Friday.

Mmm, I don't remember owning an 8800GT at all. I remember selling my i7-860 on eBay though and buying a used 4790k as a replacement. That CPU turned out to be one of the best buys I ever made.

Current specs are barely different from the above though.

My almost 11-year-old Radeon 6950 HD's second fan died today (the other one died about a year ago - so it was a trooper to keep going).

I went online to buy replacements; took both fans out. Now as the day warmed up the bugger freezes. Sigh - but not at all unexpected. So I had to install an even older and worse back-up video card until the new fans (plus some thermal paste) arrive. $20. Sigh. It beats getting a new card, but until they arrive, I'm stuck with a horrible screen resolution.

The joys of being a cheapskate.

Can't wait until we retire and I have the time to justify a new rig!!!

All arrived and installed. GPU temps dropped from about 70C resting to 45C!
