The Acuras reckon they will be in with a fighting chance this weekend at Sebring thanks to a 17kg weight reduction under a BOP change since Daytona.



90 minutess in and Bourdais leads a Cadillac 1-2 from the Acura of Deletraz.

Just ovr 9 hours left and we have the 3rd FCY, this time for the #88 stopped just off the track. Actually the #88 had quite a big get together with the barriers earlier in the race, going in fairly hard and damaging front and rear. Remarkably then it managed to continue back to pitlane with just daangling bodywork and no rear wing.

Anyway its now on a flatbed being whisked away, so we should get a restart fairly soon.

Leading the GTPs still a Cadillac 1-2 with the #10 Accura with Hartley at the wheel 3rd, the #24 BMW of Krohn 4th and the #40 Acura of Herta 5th.

We had one of the Lambos GTPs stall in pitlane earlier but the #63 of Grosjean is currently in 11th

Edit: OK as I typed that we had the two Cadillacs stop for service so now we have the #25 BMW leading from the #7 Porsche and the Caddies 3rd and 4th.

I went for a bit of sleep and it seems we had some drama whist I was napping.....

Leader Derani walks away from airborne crash lapping GTD
Sebring 12 Hours race leader Pipo Derani was uninjured after suffering a massive airborne crash while trying to overtake slower GTD traffic with four hours of the contest remaining.

Derani, a previous overall winner at Sebring, was leading the IMSA SportsCar Championship endurance race in the #31 Action Express Cadillac when he attempted to overtake the #21 AF Corse Ferrari of Miguel Molina through Turns 9 and 10.

In a shocking turn of events, he clipped the left-front of the GTD Ferrari, sliding off track and directly towards the the blue and white tyre pack.

The impact was head-on, and the car immediately launched upwards and rolled over, sending tyres flying towards spectators. The car came to a rest upside down and on top of the barrier.

Thankfully, the Brazilian driver was uninjured and managed to walk away from the crash under his own power. There were no reports of injuries among the fans either.

It seems he was trapped in the car until safety workers were able to prise the door of the Cadillac open.

The full-course yellow lasted over 30 minutes as they made repairs to the barriers.

Derani was very 'Matter of fact' afterwards

"We overtake thousands and thousands of cars through a race like this. It's just one of those moments. Maybe he didn't see, let go a little bit and there I was.

"Maybe I was just expecting him to hold his line to the right, knowing I was going to go on the left.

"It's just one of those situations where it happens without you having any chance of thinking whether you should have done something different or not.

"It's part of multi-class racing."

Just under two hours to go now.... its now full dark and here are the current leading class positions .

4 different brands in the top 4 places, led by the remaining Cadillac, of Bourdais, from Campbell in the Penske Porsche, Jordan Taylor in the #40 Acura and De Phillipi in the BMW

The #63 Lamborghini in GTP is currently running in 8th overall,a lap down but not last in GTP. Their target was to finish the race without major issues so doing what they set out to achieve.

It had been really running at a good pace and was well within reach of the leaders (their fastest lap is within half a second of the race's fastest lap..... the only reason it went a lap down was the door became unlatched and had to return to pitlane for a quick door catch repair.

An hour and 15 minutes left and we have an FCY. Some contact and a chunk of bodywork and general debris on track. Too early for the last stops but everyone will pit when the lane opens, just to get a cheap stop leaving a shorter stop to finish on.

Maybe the Lambo will be able to get its lap back.

Not sure why but we had quite a long yellow there.... green flag with just 52 minutes remaining. Bourdais in the #31 Caddy leads the way from the Deletraz Acura, the #7 Porsche and then the #5 Porsche. T



The #63 Lambo is back on the lead lap and within 10 seconds of the leaders.

We had a GT car get run off the track just after the restart and we have another FCY with 46 minutes to go.

Top 20 overall.

I wasnt watching closely whilst the FCY. was live and not sure if they even opened pitlane. Didnt see any action in the pits so maybe not.

Deletraz is right on the back of the leader.

The #10 Acura running in the lower top 10 has dived into pitlane for new rubber and fuel. Not seen any other pit action though. Yet.

Down to 25 minutes remaining and still FCY

Lights out on the SC so ready for a restart with 23 minutes to go.

#5 got pushed wide in the restart and looked like it lost a couple of spots. Bourdais has taken off and got just over 2 secs on Deletraz.
